Just got posted to a new ship, its scheduled to go to the gulf in April.

The boat I am posted to is a lightly armed supply ship, but it should still be a good time.

Any service guys here going on that roto??

If you are let me know what ship and stuff, I'll see If I can get some planning done for a Cross pol so you guys can come over to a Canadian boat for a couple beers. :D

At the least hook up during shore leave and get hammered.:)

You know what they say about sailors...300 go out to sea, 150 couples return. :tumbleweed:

Good luck dude, I have a buddy in the Navy that is currently out around Africa now, I think they were by the Persian gulf and other places as well.

Trip is getting closer...We have a date set of 13 April to leave harbor. Getting excited now. We had a pre-deployment breif last night, the ports we're gonna see are awesome...Split Croatia, Korea for fleet review in early October, UAE obviously...some really cool places.

And it is confirmed that we are circumnavigating the globe. frst time since 94 for Canada.

:lol::eek::P Gonna be lots of this I can see.

Woot

The operation is called OP Altair. Part of the war on Terrorism. Our ship is going to be the supply ship for the battle group. We'll get to do some boardings, look for drug runners and a whole bunch of other stuff.

It is gonna be a good trip from the look of things.

Not to put the onus on your trip, but did you ever hear of "loose lips sink a ship"? circa 1940

But then again, your Commander could leave something go out, just to see how the 'channels' run.

Yes! Work your butt off, get used to your buddies, used to your ship.

But do not forget to cover for them as they would for you.

Nytemare, I know you didn't ask for this, but Kathy and me will keep you in our prayers.

Godspeed, Nytemare! ....Aiden

Thanks Steve, hopefully nothing happens, but Its always good to have someone praying for you in the event something does.

And don't worry about looking after the boys...I never leave a man behind.

Sam, the trip should be 194 days, give or take...weather dependent, and other factors of course...which we all hope doesn't happen.

Thanks for the support guys.

Aiden,

Just thought of something cool....If it can be done.

How's Communications when your on patrol?

Can you have live "chats"? With the new chat room.

You could send gm-trucks a heads-up when you would be on.

But don't forget, Family-First.

Sea Fever

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by, And the wheel's kick and the wind's song and the white sail's shaking, And a grey mist on the sea's face and a grey dawn breaking.

I must go down to the seas again, for the call of the running tide Is a wild call and a clear call that may not be denied; And all I ask is a windy day with the white clouds flying, And the flung spray and the blown spume, and the sea-gulls crying.

I must go down to the seas again to the vagrant gypsy life, To the gull's way and the whale's way where the wind's like a whetted knife; And all I ask is a merry yarn from a laughing fellow rover, And quiet sleep and a sweet dream when the long trick's over.

We can't get on any live chats from our ships....and a lot of the time in "the Box" we are com silence.

But I will definitely try and keep up to date with some posting in here. Hopefully some pics, but our up/download rate sucks on board, so we'll have to see about that.

We basically have e-mail, and sat phones for communications with home. Sat phones suck...so I usually only call about once every other week, or less. E-mail is so much easier.

That ship Pic is pretty cool there Steve...I like it

I always liked the poem:

I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, And all I ask is a tall ship and a star to steer her by.

And the picture came with it.

If you would like one to pat for good luck, I probably have a Kim Catrall around here somewhere.

edit;

Oops! I may have oversteped my bounds. Of course, if you have a significant other you would defer to there first.
