About To Pull The Trigger...

I just got back from the dealer, and I am stuck between 3 trucks, all have 3000 rebates (2000 GM, 1000 Loyalty) plus the dealer is offering invoice on all trucks, The trucks are all mis matched and I like features on all of them, If I want my exact truck he will have to order and I will lose the 1000 loyalty plus if it takes too long I may be into another rebate period.

3000 off plus invoice sounds good on an 08, Is there anything on the horizon aside from the 09's upgrades? Does this sound about right? I get supplier discount but its so close to what invoice is.

The Trucks:

2008 Silverado LT1 Crew Blue Granite

2008 Silverado LT1 Crew Leather Z71 Desert Brown

2008 Silverado LT1 w/ convience Ext.Cab Skid Plates Blue Granite

I love blue granite but the desert brown Z is very close in price but I'm going to put bigger tires on it anyway(285's) so all Im getting really is skid plates.

The extended cab is my last choice but there is alot of space on the ext cab I'm surprised its close to my GFs ram quad cab. The Extended cab is in my color has the conveince package and has skid plates plus is $2000 cheaper. So many decisions....

I would go for the blue granite crew cab but it has the d**n safety package which eats up almost $700 bringing it very close in price to the z71 and it doesnt have leather.

Hope some of you can chime in with some opinions especially about the rebates, this is my first purchase, my last truck was leased and I'm never doing that again...

Order exactly what you want at invoice, there will be rebates when it shows up, you can bet on that. If you sacrifice to save $1000 on a $30K+ truck, you will regret it for the length of time you drive it.

Order it and you will be happier, trust me. I ordered mine last Jan 22nd (almost exactly a year ago) and I was worried about the rebates...blah blah blah. They were still there, better in fact, in March when I picked it up. Auto show time of the year typically has good rebates. I ordered at invoice and received $2K in rebates plus got 0% for 36mo.

Good Points, I'm heading back tomorrow to check out that desert brown, It was hard to see at night. I was worried about not having the convienence package but it seems easy enough to add the DIC button and I have a Viper 2 way remote start sitting in the box waiting for a new vehicle to be put into. If I dont like the color I will most likely order, I guess $1000 lost will be made up easily by more enjoyment, I dont want to settle for less, money is tight being a college student and all but i'll make up for it somehow.

Make sure that remote will work in whatever truck you decide on. I have been told it's not that easy to add remote start to a vehicle that is not factory prepped for it. But I could be wrong about this? Doesn't hurt to find out ahead though. You may not lose $1000, in fact you most likely WON'T, you may even save more!!! My dealer even admitted that rebates peak right around Auto Show time. Where are you from and does your nearest metro area host an Auto Show? It's in March or April this year here in Mpls. If you need to set a limit, that's fine, but at least when you order YOU get to decide what sacrifices to make. Plus it's so cool to know that only your arse has sat in the seat. This was the first new vehicle I have ordered and I will never buy any other way again.

Good luck and keep on posting!!!

New York International Auto Show is in March and I already got my tickets, like I said I'm going in tomorrow to check it out again, I really want 4:10's now too for the larger tires, so I may just order and hope the rebates stick around until march when it will most likely arrive.

The viper alarm should work fine without any of the preps, they have new bypasses that are programmed via computer to defeat any factory systems. I work at Best Buy and my good friend is an installer, they had problems when a NBS Tahoe came in, there were no bypasses and they cooked the computer and it had to be towed to the dealer for a fix, but now they have no problem doing them apparently so hopefully all will go well when i'm ready for it.

Thanks again and I will continue posting, I cant live without message boards...

Went back to the dealer today and bascially they didnt want my truck as a trade in even thought he quoted me 10k last night today he went down to 6k, on a fully loaded 2003 s10 zr2 with 50k miles. OUCH didnt think the dealer would burn me that bad.. I'll bascially wait and sell my truck privately. I'll be back eventually hopefully next time with a gmt900...

If thats how he wants to treat you, if its an option id show him how happy i am with his change of heart and go to a different dealer and make sure he knows it.

Yea, he just sold my girlfriends father a Silverado last month and he trades every 6 months, you would think he would want to make a better impression since we went together. I was not impressed, I wanted a GMC anyway and got treated better at the GMC dealer..

Two years ago I traded in a 1995 Nissan king cab SE V6 4x4 truck with 90k miles on an '06 Silverado and got $ 5,500 for it. Seems to me that S10 should be worth a bit more than $ 6k being a lot newer.

I just purchased a new 08' GMC 2WD, Extended Cab with the "California Package" which is 20" wheels, color coded body, some sort of suspension, 5.3l, remote start, power seats, etc. for $28K

I wanted the 6.0 engine but none available in white and the CA package, then I wanted a standard 5.3l with leather in white, non available, they told me I'd have to order it.

So I drove off with a 5.3 with cloth interior (need to find someone to add the leather) for 28K plus tax. Sticker was 31,630.00

I wouldn't go back to the original dealer, he's trying to rob you.

As for your original list I'd go with this one:

2008 Silverado LT1 Crew Leather Z71 Desert Brown

For some reason I love that color, looks great on the Silverados!

I checked their web site.

They do not list interiors for any GM truck newer than 98. 10 yrs too old.

The dealer offered the leather interior for 1,100 but I would have to wait a day and I was leaving town when I purchased the truck so it was not an option. (I purchased the truck from an out of town dealer. 350 miles away)

They informed me that anyone can do it, sales talk, for $900.00 ??

Thought it might be best to purchase the interior that l like rather than trusting someone and not liking what they supply as everyone has to make a buck, and at the same time pass the blame.

Thanks
