Gm Performance Parts Gains

Have any of you installed the GM performance parts exhaust or cold air intake? I would like to use these for warrantee reasons as well as there ease of installation. The only thing is they don't list any performance gains for these parts. My question to any one that's installed them is what type of gains if any you have seen? These parts are well made and quite expensive, so there's got to be more reason than aesthetics for using them. Thanks for your feedback!

Just curious, what do you mean by "warranty reasons"?

Say if you have aftermarket intake and something goes wrong with the engine, GM will not cover the problem and can say the intake caused that problem. So sticking with GM Parts, will not void the warranty because it is made by the original manufacturer.

- Same goes for tunes, programmers, etc.

I have never heard of either of these two components voiding a manufacturer's warranty. That is why I asked.

I do know that they simply can not say something causes a problem, they have to prove it does.

If something DOES go wrong (And it shouldn't, I use to go mudding with my 2500HD with a K&N aircharger kit installed, never locked the motor up) just put the stock intake back on.

I understand where you are coming from the warranty perspective, but depending on the dealer and the issue you have at hand, they shouldn't blame some thing for something else. In other words, if you have a transmission problem, your intake/exhaust would have nothing to do with it. I had my truck dropped, intake, and programmed ECU. and whenever i took it to the dealer for a popping noise when i turned, it didn't affect it, they didn't even mention anything about the mods. now obviously if you take it for a problem with your MAF sensor or something then yes i woudl place the stock part back in and then approach the dealer, but that is why you buy a dry filter intake to avoid build up on the mAF sensor.

I'm running the GMPP Borla dual exhaust on my 2008 5.3 Silverado. I estimate about +(6-10) hp with just this addition with respect to the stock 315 hp just by a seat of the pants feeling. It sounds amazing when you get on the gas. I have a video I made with a soundclip but because of my crappy dial up I can't upload it. I'll try again this week to see if I can get it up for you. The quality of this system is really good. The tips are A+ in quality. Nice chrome with bowties stamped on the part of the tips facing upward. The only bad part about the system is that I never want to drive easy with it now because I want to hear it rev up while accelerating hard all the time. My only gripe is that if you're doing about 65 mph on the highway and the conditions are just right, the truck wants to keep switching from V4-V8 mode continuously. This changes the exhaust note just a bit which could get annoying if you have the music down low and you're trying to have a conversation. It's not drone, it's just a noticable sound change you get when the system changes that is indistinguishable with the stock exhaust. If I'm driving by myself I usually have the music at about 1/3-1/2 volume and you can't hear it at all then.

So did you install the exhaust yourself? Was it part number 88968547? I didn't relize this was made by Borla.?.?

Out of all the gear heads around hear none of you installed the GMPP Performance Air Intake? It's only $340 and comes with a nice crome cover and intake tube for your engine compartment. Part #17800809

Well, it can be a bit pricey compared to some alternatives out there. But if ya do a search, or check a few sigs, I'm sure you'll find there are more who have it installed. Been running mine for awhile now, great mod. Figure if I can't get 30HP from a CAI, it might as well look nice!

I have the K&N intake on mine (got it for $90 shipped brand new in the box) and the dealer has not sail a single thing about it.

Probably because you haven't had a MAF sensor or TB issue yet. Not saying or implying you will, but IF you do, it could give them an excuse to deny your warranty claim. Though I doubt the dealer would do that anyway. They get paid for warranty work by GM, so they have nothing to lose.

Correct me if im wrong, but wouldnt it be better if the tube was straight instead of curving around? I mean, the tube design is where your gaining you hp, not the filter.
