Finally Brought My Truck To Dealer!

I finally finished working up north and got a chance to bring my truck to my dealer today about the oil leak. They called me lunch time and told me it was Rear Main Seal, so they were going to have to keep it over night to finish the job, since they had to drop the tranny....Oh the joys of a new model year...As for the fuel sensor...of course they had to order it again. They told me when they had got them in the first time they had 2 different ones, and they didn't know which was the new one and which was the same in the truck. Apparently I had the bad one put in again...Hopefully they get it fixed right the next time...when they actually get them in since they are back ordered big time!!

This sucks - but not as least it is coverd under warranty. My nissan pickup developed a leak around the rear main seal after 9 years and it cost me $ 1200 to fix. Oil ruined the clutch which had to be replaced.

Mine is going in for the fuel gauge tomorrow, hopefully they dont screw mine up!

I had to wait a month for the part to get here!

Make SURE to have them also check the Crank Position sensor for the oil leak. I had my rear main changed and it was still leaking, turned out to be the CPS o-ring. Not sure if the rear main seal was ever leaking. This is a COMMON issue!!!! I will bet our next truck payments that your CPS o-ring is leaking. Is there oil right up near the starter? (it collects on the starter mounting bolt heads).

The dealer said my sensor was actually cracked...500 miles

How long did the actual crank position sensor seal replacement take? Did they have they have the parts instock? I ask because it looks like I will have to get mine replaced as well.

CPS o-ring is relatively simple. But if the rear main is leaking (also VERY possible), then it's likely a 2-day job as they need to drop the tranny.

Is there any oil on the bolts that hold the starter on (see pic)? The CPS is right above the starter, and the oil seems to accumulate on the heads of 1 of the bolts that hold the starter on. It also makes it's way down to the bottom of the bell housing, same place it will show up if the rear main is leaking. If it's ONLY there and nothing near the starter, then it's likely the rear main seal.

I'll check tomorrow and let you guys know. Hopefully it's not the rear main.

Yep, I already have a new steering rack (leaking fluid), new dash trim (warped), and a rear door adjusted so it would fully latch.

I do like the truck, but I hate to say it....my last three new cars were Japanese....no warranty work on any of them...at all. They were all also built n Japan though, not assembled here. Different work ethic and philosophy over there...

I call that luck, the Honda's I've owned which were built in Japan all had issues. Its nothing to do with work ethic anymore, most of the stuff is done by computers.
