2000 Silverado 2500 6.0l 150k Extended cab Short bed 4X4.

I love this truck.

Got pulled over the other night. No ticket, just a warning. Passenger side Rear Running and Passenger side License plate lights not working. Turn signals, brake lights, third brake light, driver side running, driver side License plate lights, all working.

Checked socket for corrosion. Bulb looked good, replaced anyway. Checked with volt meter, No voltage. Checked at junction box behind spare tire, no voltage. Checked plug going into Junction box, no voltage. Traced wires to front of truck, no snags or tears in shielding.

At this point I want to blame the headlight switch, but I really am inexperienced with trouble shooting vehicles. Before I run out and spend $60 on something I may not need, do any of you have any other Ideas? Also, I am just assuming that the Headlight Switch controls the Running Lights. Am I right or wrong?

Thanks in advance.

A friend sitting here next to me says I may be referring to the parking lights. I am leaving my post as is because I have always heard them referred to as running lights. I am not referring to the Daytime Running lights. I am referring to the lights that use the same bulb as the brake lights. 2 filaments.

running lamps, parking lamps, for me they are used interchangebly, but it sounds like a short in either the switch or blown fuses, check all the fuses for any broken ones
