Another Nelson Tune Thread

Okay, so I installed it on Friday, drove it and was not all that impressed. It was better, I noticed the lack of TM on accelleration from a stop, firmer shifts, etc., but I was not all that thrilled. The SES light in the dash made me feel uneasy. I checked the code, to verify it was for the crank re-learn, and it was. I drove through the weekend, and every ride got a bit better. I went in today, and had the crank re-learn procedure doen, it took 3 minutes and I was on the highway, my foot to the floor...OKAY BABY! Ol' Blue is red hot and running now, it has gone through whatever adaptations and/or learning it needed to and is running so sweet. The feeling of relief that I have not wasted my money is overwhelming! The GMPP Intake and Exhaust systems have changed tones now, and sound just great. I never thought I would have Traction Control cut my power on dry pavement at 25 mph on a downshift I love it, and I thank everybody for their help on this one!

I got the 91 Octane tune. You need to upgrade that tune to 91 if you even want to THINK you can make me see your tailgate bowtie.

As for the mileage expectations, I really don't have any at this point. I will wait and see what happens. I had him tune for any everyday driver with occasional towing. Re-tunes are free, so if mileage suffers I will do something different. He told me to expect 1-2 mpg increase

I hate you, you are making me want to go with Nelson so bad. But I just don't know if I'd like a permanent tune, or go with W4M and get the custom handheld....

I have been following your guys post about the Nelson Tune's pretty closely and am about ready to go ahead and get one. There are a couple of questions I have.....Where are you getting the Crank Re-Learn done at?? At the dealership or where? Also, while I hardly ever run E85, my truck is capable of it, and I live in IL where it is widely offered...if I go with say an 87 octane tune, or even one of the higher ones will I be able to run the E85 if needed? I'd appreciate your input as this will be my first truck out of all of them that I have ever really started messing with the performance of it.

I hate you, you are making me want to go with Nelson so bad. But I just don't know if I'd like a permanent tune, or go with W4M and get the custom handheld....

although I have no experience with W4Me, I have had every other handheld under the sun, and never had results like this. My 8.1 was the most impressive with a Hypertech 91 octane, then with a Diablo and custom tune. I can only only imagine what a Nelson would been like.

You should give it a shot, you will be happy. It is very docile, and so much easier to drive...and if you want to unleash it just mash the pedal.

Contact Nelson Performance with questions on E85. I have no clue. As for Crank Re-learn, anybody with a Tech 2 and current software can do it.

Supposedly Jesse can create 3 different tunes on a handheld, a member on the forum has it and says he loves it. I'd like it because I can have super economy when I am commuting and when I want to hotrod I can switch it and well.....hotrod. Thank you though.
