I'm looking to change my emblem on the grille to the black one. I have always liked that look and always wanted to do it on my 98 but never thought it would look good. So where did ya'll get yours or how did you make yours?

My emblem costed me $1 for a can of flat black Kyrlon plastic paint  I did about 4 or 5 layers until it was blacked out completely, and 2 clear coats of Krylon Crystal Clear Glaze.

Cleaned

Also, I dont know about your grill but if ite grey, it might not flow well with the black emblem, might wanna consider masking the chrome off and painting the grill black ( I did ) Before I did, ick :D

Should wet sand that and get it looking like glass. I would've added about 2-3 more good coats of clear to that, so when you wet sand you don't go through the clear and hit the paint.

Not to hi-jack another thread, but I've been rolling a thought around in my head for sometime now. I have a '99 C2500 with the plastic grill that is all faded out. I'm thinking of painting it a flat black, and color matching my bowtie emblem victory red to match the rest of the truck. Do you think it would look ok?

I used two stage acrylic enamel paint on mine. It's a little more work than your basic rattle can, but the durability and look is top notch. Someone sells a two stage paint in a rattle can, which I didn't know about until after I did mine. I forgot who makes it, though a quick Google search should yield the results. That would certainly be the way to go.

I will probably do this once I change the grille and hood out for an 05-up setup. I got to playin around on paint and decided I didn't like the look. I was gonna try PS or Gimp but I can't even come close to figuring it out.

I simply used a high gloss vinyl sticker...Pretty much took a small square, laid it on the emblem and cut out the overlapping sections. this will avoid any rock chips down the road...so far so good. I did both the front and back. I park outside and have run this thing through car washes ALL the time...no problems so far.

Hi how tuff was it to remove the stock plastic grille emblem? I looked at mine (2008 2500 hd) and it looked like it was held in by plastic prongs? It seemed hard to get out, any advice how to get it out and repaint. thanks

Mine had nuts on the plastic prongs. I just unscrewed them. Not very hard at all.
