hey yall im lookin to get my first truck to use for some lawn/landscape maintnance. i found this >> http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail.jsp;j...mp;aff=national on cars.com and thought it wasnt too bad of a deal. any thoughts? its got the 5.3 so it should be alright to pull a landscape trailer (few thousand pounds at most). im looking for a truck with some stuff on it, but also something i can use as a platform to build upon and call my own. being 16 and looking for an affordable truck isnt easy! thanks guys.

Not a bad looking truck. My neighbors have an 04 crew that's Silver birch. That's pretty nicely equipped. I had a 99 Z71 ext cab that I sold to my parents neighbor for 11k this past fall with 111,000 miles on her. With fuel prices now, you're somewhat in the driver's seat, so take the truck out for a ride, see if you like it, and shop around to get some prices before making them an offer.

That's a nice truck!!

If it looks and drives as nice as it appears in the ad, offer them 12K for it.

NO I was agreeing with you. I would offer $12k for it too. It has alot of options and leather too. Looks like a great truck for a great price if it rides great also!!!

Looks like a buyers market. Thats not a bad starting asking price. Offer $ 4,000 less than they are asking meet 1/2 way and that would be a hell of a deal. Remember they will try to hit you with "dealer fees", tax tag and tittle etc. etc. etc.

Here is some figures from the black book

Take the advice above. It's all good.

Note: I have seen new trucks for sale in Sunday papers for about the same price. And not always a stripped truck - just something dealers have in stock. So check out some big city Sunday newspapers for the new trucks.

Unless you are paying cash, your interest rate is lower for a new truck.
