My Gmc Denali Touchscreen Unit Ate Some Change

I have a 2007 Yokon Denali with the touchscreen DVD Nav unit. While I was loading the car, my 2 year old climbed in the front seat and fed the dvd player multiple pennies and quarters :( . Has anyone ever taken one of these apart? The dealer will only pull it out and put in a new one, they will not attempt to fix. While I know it is a bit risky, I've gotten it pulled out without removing the power, I'm just curious if anyone has any pointers before I go any further.

Thanks,

Aaron

nope, that is not a 'serviceable' unit, only Delco will pull it apart...you could try it, I would not recommend it

Does your two year old normally play slots?

Sorry, I know all your seeing is dollar signs, but you've gotta see some humor in it!!!

They are not hard to pull apart. Just take your time. I have had to pull a few GM radios apart. It sucks when you put an aftermarket unit in, get it all buttoned up, then remember that you left your favorite CD in the stock radio. At that point, it is either tear it all back apart, or open up the stock unit. You can guess which I chose.

I guess I would'a gone with option 3: replace the CD..... given the time and effort to pull the old one a part.... :(

I don't own all these tools just so I can drive to the store and buy another CD. By the time you get to the store and back I could have the unit apart, and back together 3 times.

Why even put it back together???

So I have a working stock unit to put back when I sell the truck. Do you ask questions just to read your own text?

I wouldn't question a guy with so many "wrenches". You might get flamed.
