'03 Silverado Cabin Fan Issue?

First off let me say this could be normal operation and I never noticed it before because I always have my windows open (even when snowing, yes the wife hates it).

Long story short; today I noticed that regardless of the Floor-Face-Defroster selector switch position the fan speed switch positions 'O' and '1' are the same have the same effect and are 'O' is always blowing. Positions '2', '3', '4', and '5' all seem to work as they should and increase the air flow speed.

Thoughts?

I have a $50 deducible warranty on this truck, but I want to know what it is before I left any grease monkey "tech" touch my truck. Heck, if the replacement part is cheaper than $50 I'll do it myself.

My brother has a '99 ZR2 and my father has a '00 S-series Blazer. They both blow air like that. Not sure on the full size trucks, but I am betting it's probably normal.

mine does the same thing if im pulling the air in from out side. if i put it on recirculate it stops. pretty sure its normal

Really? :dunno:

I mean I've had this truck for awhile, just never noticed it.

I guess I'm used to my Jeep. In that "O" really is "OFF".

Darn Chevy/GM! Why isn't "OFF" really "OFF"? Well heck, I guess if that is my only gripe with the truck, its good , right?

Oh well, in that case, sorry for creating a thread on something stupid and normal.

yall have some busted trucks, when I stick mine on 0, it does not blow air (unless I am traveling at high speed, then the air is 'rammed' into the truck). Fan position # 1 starts the compressor (A/C) and starts up the blower motor. I would have that taken in for the HVAC Control check. Most of these controllers short out on these positions.
