Navigation Question

I looked through the owners manual but could not find anything.

 

I've noticed lately on my nav screen some "hollow" dots on some roads in my area; does anyone know what these mean? If I had to take a wild guess, I would think it has to do with XM real-time traffic, but that is just a guess.

Could they be locations that you have "marked"/"stored" ? There is functionality to remember locations, or "mark" locations.

 

Check your POI (Point of Interest) screen, and see if anything is active. Turn them (POIs) all off to see if it goes away.

My marked POI have the pin label and other POIs are little squares with a picture that represents what they are. These are like dots on the road. I'll try to take picture later and post so you can exactly what I'm referring to.

Could you provided a picture, maybe?

 

Are they following the path that you've been driving? If so, maybe "off road" mode has been enabled, in one of the menus. That leaves a "bread crumb trail" of where you've been on the screen..?

Is yours GMT800 or GMT900?

Alright, here are three pictures of the navigation screen. It appears to be a "breadcrumb" trail in the third, but dots that were there this morning (on roads I did not travel down since last night) were gone on my way home. The do I'm referring to directly under the vehicle identification on the screen (light blue compard to the dark blue highway).

 

Any insight?

Edit:If the nav unit has off road mode turn it off.

Looks like off-road mode is on, to me...

 

Hit the MENU button and then NAV. "Off-Road Mode" should be at the bottom of the screen. Make sure it's off.
