New Silverado Owner (charleston Sc)

Well finally sold my 1999 GMC Sierra after 10 years of ownership. Man I miss that truck already. Just purchased an 08 Crew Cab Silverado. My first day with the truck has not been so good.

1. Left rear tire won't hold pressure. Cheap General brand will be out the door shortly.

2. Went to start the truck and the factory key would go into the ignition. Tried moving the wheel, shifter etc. finally wiggled the hell out of the key and got it to work.

I've only owned the truck for a day now and am already thinking about bringing it back to the dealer. Hopefully better days are ahead. Did I mention that I really miss my 99 Sierra?

Welcome to the site... I dont know if your dealer is like mine... But the dealership that I bought my truck from puts out a survey all about the salesperson and if you dont give them a good review which it seems they will do anything to get that good review.. You can hold that over his head if you have any problems getting those issues smoothed out..

But I am sure that the dealer will take care of you!

Hi there and welcome to GM Trucks! I am sorry that you're having so many issues with the new truck. But yes, take it to the dealer and let them fix things to your satisfaction.

Welcome!!!

I also had a '99 (K1500 ext-cab Z71) Put almost 100,000 miles on that truck,It never left me stranded, and I never had any issues with it.

But out of all the trucks I've had (I've had 9 over 20 years) I miss my '97 K1500 the most...I still think the GMT400 platform trucks were the best.

That's not cool at all. Your salesperson can't control what service does to address your isssues. Why throw him/her under the bus when its totally out of his/her control?

The sales manager asked me to take the truck back to service yesterday and I did. I pull up with my oem rim and tire in the back, and the service manager tells me that they don't warranty tires, the tire manufacturer has to fix my problem. He calls the local tire dealer, and they say it's not their problem. The sales manager comes by and checks things out, directs the service manager to pull a new tire/rim off of a truck on the lot so I can be on my way. This sales manager was a hell of a lot cooler than the first one I dealt with. That guy told me I must have ran over a nail. Well he was wrong, turned out to be a sidewall issue with the tire. The dealership is nearly 50 miles from my house, so the sales manager gave me a voucher to fill up at the local Shell station for all of my troubles. Plus he gives me a huge discount off of a new line-x bedliner. $400 out the door.

My sales guy was great, and I only had an issue with the first sales manager. Other than that truck is ok, let's see how she looks with 200,000 miles on her.

This is NOT true,The dealers are able to handle tire warranty issues,They are actually suppose to handle the warranty issues....we do it all the time here.

The comment by the service manager really threw me for a loop. He told me that he had over 25 years in the business (mostly with BMW) and that there wasn't a manufacturer in the U.S. that warrantied tires. Got the problem fixed, but the General tires that came on the truck have already got to go.
