Mn Tune

Hey do any of you MN guys out there know of any good places to get a tune around here? I think that i want to stay away from those mail order PCMs. I contacted blackbear because they do the data log thing, but they have not responded, so I was thinking that I could just get one done in person.

woah...thats a first they usually reply back within a day (most of the time shorter than that) i would really recommend justin if there are no tuners around your area. the best thing is a live tune..they next best thing is justin because with his cables its almost like a live tune...i have a tune done locally by nelson performance and it is a great tune and they have great customer service...had they not been close to me i would most likely have gone with justin. IMO wait for an e-mail back...it will be worth it

Where about in Minny?

It'd be cool if Blackbear did one of those traveling tune things for us Midwestern guys. Pick a central location . . . oh I don't know . . . Des Moines?

Sorry about the delay! We are currently remodeling our kitchen and it has been taking a toll on the email response time. He is working on the emails he got yesterday morning and working through (he always answers in order they came in).

Tony, I'm sure you should hear back from Justin anytime. Also, him and Jenna stop by GM-Trucks often, so I'm sure they'll see your post.

Nick, I like your thinking

Would the Midwesterners be interested in a group-tune??

EDIT: see, I knew Jenna would be around. I guess I was typing too slow.

I'm in Rochester, but would go to the TC if needed. I would be interested in a Midwest group tune for sure. I can probably get a few more too...

Justin has no problem travelling to tune but requires 10+ tunes and will also ask for deposits before hand. If you guys can get something together and lock in some dates then he will make sure he clears his schedule.

Just an FYI- he will be in Nashville TN the weekend of Nov 14th for tuning. If anyone is interested in that feel free to PM me or email Justin.

What kind of tune does he do when he does group tunes (dyno, drive and log)? Also does he take extra ECM and TCM. I been waiting for the EFI Live handheld but if he is in Nashville I might drive the 3 hours to see him. How much is the deposit?

Count me in.

Who wants to organize this? I would, but I have no clue how to go about it?

Jenna??? Purty Please?!?!?!

If we could get enough guys in the twin cities area that would be nice....I have 2 for sure and it sounds like Jeff is in. I bet we can get at least 7 more.

Unless he can get access to a dyno all the tunes will be street tunes. Most dyno places will charge out the wazoo for dyno time and won't let others actually run it. Plus he really prefers DynoDynamics and not many shops have those.

The deposits currently are $50 (for Nashville) and yes, if you want an extra TCM and ECM or PCM you just have to let him know . As soon as there are enough people for his Nashville trip, he will post up time slots for people to request throughout that weekend.

I am sure you guys are more than capable of getting something going (I am not a vendor on here, and don't want to cross any boundaries). Feel free to start a thread to guage interest and I will monitor and answer any questions as needed.

On EDIT: I forgot to mention, Justin prefers that you pay for the extra computers before he heads out so he can ship them to you. This way you can perform the security relearn before he gets there.

    • Dealer reported a failed shifter module assembly so the whole shifter is getting replaced. Yet another premature repair… up to $12,000+ in extended warranty payout in only 5 years and 80,000 miles!
    • According to the dealer it’s an internal leak/failure of the compressor.  Again, another failure that shouldn’t happen at only 5 years and 80k miles.  For some reason the compressors must be hard to come by right now, because the truck’s been at the dealer almost a week and they just located a compressor at another dealer several states away today.  We’ll see if this fixes the issue.
    • I'm not sure if this should be a reply on this thread or a new topic, let me know if it's out of place. This my first post. Thanks 85077522 - ACDelco GM Genuine Parts Brake Master Cylinders. Anyone else had to replace this brake master cylinder yet. I didn't do any brake work, it looks like new parts and I've had the truck for about 4k miles. When it started to throw codes I did the calibrations with a bidirectional scanner and got the codes to clear but they came back so i did the routine; base bleed, automated bleed and final base bleed. All that with Bosch ES16-32N fluid (please look it up). That seemed to fix it but 100ish miles later it failed again so I ran the same process but with a pressure bleeder this time and got the same results, fixed for 100ish miles. The original fluid looked bad and I thought I got most of it out. The codes; P25A2, C05B0-00, C2A1B. I can get them to clear but not for long. The C05B0 indicates a leak in the front circuit (which is bone dry) so I'm thinking of doing the bleed process on that front again today and I don't know if that's taboo to just do the front but at this point it seems like it's worth the try anyway. The new master cylinder/module unit is supposed to get here today. But now I'm pretty much convinced this install is over my head. I've called several shops and some mobile guys that I know but this thing is like radio active material scary wise. I did get 2 local shops say they should be able to do it, one says he has the SPS2 programing capability. And with the battery disconnected is there supposed to be pedal resistance, mine is to the floor, then if I pump it I can get some resistance.
    • I wasn’t commenting on your post. Certainly wasn’t arguing. I was making an observation on my long term experience with supposedly proper length of driving for proper heat cycles. Works for me. Although I have seen water or vapor come out of exhaust when vehicles weren’t run very long and shut off. It’s very humid in the morning. Then hot and humid.
    • Not what I said but I can work with it anyway. Complete combustion produces CO2 and H20. When it's cold enough you can 'see' it as water vapor but it is always there and more so the better the tune up. It's physics, not an argument. In a cold motor when the cylinder jacket is below the condensation temperature the water goes to the pan and not the PCV system. Heating the oil moves it from liquid to vapor where it is removed by the PCV system. When and how much depends on temperatures. Of the air, the water and so on. It has little to with the humidity. Water is a combustion product.
