Would someone be kind enough to let me know the particulars on VIN 2GTEC19T251260668

I'm especially interested in the rear axle and size V8. This is a used vehicle being offered by a dealership and would like to know more about it before contacting them.

Well, for starters, this truck is an 05, not an 07.

3.73 With G80 locking diff, 5.3 v8 engine, Limited Edition Package, with Southwest Package (seems like an Audio Package)

Thanks for the information. Nice truck but I'm a little concerned whether it has enough power to tow our small travel trailer, which is the reason we are looking to replace our 2004 Tacoma (V6). The Tacoma is a little anemic climbing hills. On flat terrain it does fine. Question - Do you suppose the GMC would allow us to tow a 4000 lb. trailer up a 7% grade at 55 mph without strain? The best we're able to do with the Tacoma is around 40 mph and only if we shift down to 2nd (automatic transmission.

BTW, the link did not work for me. It asked for a password, etc. Looks like it's just for GM employees.

If all you are towing is 4000lbs, that Sierra should fit you nicely. The 5.3 is a good little motor and with the 3.73's I don't think you will have any problem running 70mph up a 7% grade. The truck you see in my sig is a 1995 with the 5.7l (350) which was only rated from the factory with 205hp (I have done some mods to it, but not that much) and has 3.08 gears, it runs away with my Trailer/Nova. They weigh in at about 5000lbs.

If it doesn't tow how you want, you can always change the gears to 4.10's later on for a few hundred bucks.

66nova - Thanks for the words on towing. To stretch the subject a little, how do you suppose it would handle a larger trailer that weighed 6000 lbs. loaded? There's a real possibility that we will move in that direction. Sorry if it sounds like I'm a little too cautious but the Tacoma was supposedly strong enough to handle our 4000 lb. trailer but in my estimation it is not. I really don't want to purchase more truck than necessary.

I will post pics if the truck is purchased.

I don't think you will have a problem. But, if you feel it is a little under powered, a custom tune (refer to www.blackbearperformance.com) and 4.10 gears will fix the problem. That is the beautiful thing about getting a GM truck (vs almost any other brand) there are countless performance upgrades you can do for the motor and suspension to make towing easier and help the overall drivability of your truck.

I have hauled a number of trailers, but I am not an expert about campers. There are a number of guys on here that are, and I am sure they will chime in. As I suspect there are tips they can give that will be of more help.

As for me, I think you will be very happy with the 5.3l. I don't think you need the 6.0, but that also depends on how much time it will spend hooked up to the trailer.

I just learned that Bigfoot, the manufacturer of the trailer we were considering for an upgrade, just closed their doors. So, it looks like we'll stick with our small travel trailer for now. Probably just as well considering the economic climate. I have a few more questions about the earlier Sierras (2004-07) that I'll post in another thread.
