Hunting

Just wanted to start a thread for hunting stories, what you saw and what you killed... Really just wanted to see if anyone saw anything this past Saturday and if they actually went hunting.

I know that buckfeverZ and deerhunter and a lot of others in this site hunt so I wanted to hear from you guys how your hunting went...

Well Saturday for me I worked in the morning but went out in the afternoon... I hunted locally in a spot where we have like 60 acres that is owned by a friend that has his landscaping company equipment storage yard.. We havent hunted there much this year cause he had the timber hauled out attempting to make a road or cut over through the middle of the property... We didnt think that the hunting would be any good but Saturday we thought that we would check it out..

So as my friend and I were walking down the cut over road we jumped 2 does that were about 50 yards out.. The blew at us and the one bigger doe ran back further and stared at us! My friend got as close as he could and took a shot but missed... We thought that he missed and once we got to where the doe was we heard it jumping off in the distance...

By now it started raining.. I had all my rain gear on and I sat in my stand with my shotgun in the rain... I almost took a shot on a couple of squirrels but saved the buck shot.. As I was sitting there it seemed like everyone decided to shoot off their guns and they were continously shooting... Around 4:30 those same does returned to the edge of the thicket and started blowing again... By dark I got down and all I could smell was gun powder that the wind had blown in from those who were shooting...

I know that those does werent blowing at me cause they were over 100 yards out and the wind wasnt going to them from me.. But I think that the gun powder smell scared them off...

It rained the whole time but I had fun... At least we saw some deer!

Not a hunter myself Brian... but I do love to fish!

Plenty of folks in here are deer hunters. Maybe we can get some Bambi killer stories!

Yeah man I love to fish too! But during hunting season we dont fish much... Back in september we went deep sea fishing and caught a bunch of Flounder, king macro and spanish macro... Its a blast, I am more of a Cat Fish, Bass, and brim myself!

I went out the weekend before last north of Dallas. The wind was blowing 30 mph and gusting higher than that. We were lucky the first night to see some doe, but didn't shoot any of them. I swear they were daring me though, one of them just stared at me in the blind and stood there. The next morning was just as windy and we didn't see anything. I'll be out again over the Christmas holiday, hopefully I'll have a good story to tell that ends with dinner.

Some pics, to many stories to tell... i finally sent out for my FAC to BE the hunter instead of camera guy, scout, cook etc,etc. The only pic of me is the one with the three bucks, i`m in the yellow sweater

Our gun season ended the last week of November. I ended up getting 2 bucks this year on opening day. Some of ya might have seen the picture and heard the story already in my other thread. Here is the picture from this year again...
