Volant Powercore Cai

I finally got around to getting the Volant Powercore CAI. Install went good. Only problems I ran into was I had to make a couple holes on the lid a little bigger because they didn't line up and the breather hose they gave me was about an inch too short. Other than that, I'm very impressed. By far the best kit I've had. I've had Airaid and K&N in the past on other trucks.

Anyways, the best part is, I shaved 1.5 seconds off my 0-60 and 2 tenths off my 1/4 mile times! I couldn't believe it, so I ran it 3 more times. All times were consistant. I've never got that kind of performance out of a CAI. (I also have aftermarket exhasut, I'm sure that helps out too).

I'm extremely happy I got it. Now for a tune.....

1.5 seconds with just a CAI??? Im a little skeptical on that one

I gotta call :) on that one.

On a truck you'd need to get something like a 100HP gain to get 1.5 seconds off the 0-60. My '00 was 8 seconds 0-60 (5.3l) and it dropped to 6.5 seconds with a 100HP Magnachanger roots blower on it. I think someone missed a decimal place. 0.15 seconds, that would be a reasonable number.

Not completely true. Once you remove the E-Nannies via tuning, then yes, you are correct. A custom tune to remove the E-Nannies on the newer trucks will result in MUCH better 0-60 times, but simply adding a CAI will net next-to-nothing by itself.

 Torque Management kills a LOT more power in these trucks than most people realize. That was true for the GMT800s as well as the new ones, though the 800s weren't quite as limited as the 900s. That's exactly why the very first thing I did to my truck when I got it was to bust out the HP Tuners and remove it. Now I not only get better gas mileage than stock, but I can get up and go much quicker as well.

I have had the Volant Cold Air Intake Power Core installed on my Sierra for some time now. This intake was the only intake of many that I have installed that fit perfect without any modifications. On the intakes I have had, I'll list them in order from one to ten being one as my favorite. 1.) Volant, 2.) AEM Brute Force, 3.) K & N, 4.) Air Raid, 5.) S & B.

I do have to admit with all the modifications that I have made since purchasing the Sierra, I have noticed a difference in sound and power from the modifications that I have listed in my signature. I am sure the power increase is from a combination of the performance mods.

I bet my GMPP fit better than ANY non-OEM aftermarket one ever will.

I know it doesn't sound right, but it gained between 1.2 and 1.5 seconds 0-60. I didn't believe it at first either, that's why I ran it 3 more times. Every time it was within a tenth or two. That's the CAI with the exhaust on the 6.0. I ran it probably 6 or so times in the months before and got consistant times every time also.

And no, I didn't get the ram air tube. I didn't know they had one available for the GMT900 yet. Do they have one?

I'll try to get some pics in the next few days.
