A/c Turns On

Is it normal for the A/C to turn on when you start the truck and the A/C button is off, but the recirculation button is pressed in? This happens to my truck. Is something wrong with the A/C switch or is it purposely configured to do this? None of my other vehicles does this. The A/C switch and the recirculation button are independent of each other.

Yep, but it only runs it under certain temp conditions, and will turn off on it's own. At least that is the way mine works.

mine has been cycling on and off even with the re-circ turned off. About every 30-45seconds it sounds like it cycles on and off, any one ever experience this?

yeah vmax I forgot about that. Youre right. I think it could be in the 30s recirc wont stay on??

Yep, but it only runs it under certain temp conditions, and will turn off on it's own. At least that is the way mine works.

 

I believe it shuts off based on low temps right Jeff? It is normal op for the AC to be ON when the recirc button is pressed.

It also turns on with the defroster and anytime you hit "AUTO" on the climate controls but the compressor should shut off if the outside temp is below 40 or so.
