Hi! Purchasing My First Vehicle

Hi!

I'm 21, college senior, majoring in art history + minoring in sculpture and hopefully going into architectural restoration work.

By now, I've got several stories, of hauling 400-lb blocks of marble onto a bus from vermont, and onto the boston subway; renting a zipcar and tipping about 1000# or so into the bed of one of the smaller suvs they offer, and three times hiring other guys with trucks + trailers to help me move serious boulders around.

Here's one of my biggest trips, from last November; about 7000# of stone in the trailer, and another 800# in the truck bed. What an adventure.

It's high time I get myself a truck of my own!

Welcome to the site.I'd say if you're gonna be hauling heavy objects like stone your best bet would be to buy a 3/4t. truck with a tow package. GM's 2500HD would be a great purchase.

What he is hauling, the 6.0L (or the 6.2) would do just fine. Now if you were going to haul heavier loads in excess of 10K on a constant basis, the Duramax is the way to go. If you have the funds...just get the D-Max.
