Just wanted to say you guys lived in the coolest time in American history.

Sexual revolution.

Drug revolution.

Vietnam war / Protests

GREATEST MUSIC EVER.

Woodstock (this year is 40th year anniversary!)

You guys had parents that were really hard working and taught you guys hard work, which my generation has no idea what it is.

Just wanted to congratulate you.. and say that you are lucky, imo.

EDIT: And high school wasnt that super intense. like you could go and actually enjoy yourself rather than almost dying from how retarded it has become. And you can play every high school sport, whereas now a days my football coach hates it when people play anything other than football... or track. :puke:

It wasnt as capitalistic as it is now.

Get good grades in grade school so u can get into a good high school. get good grades in HS to get into a good college. get good grades in college and become a XXXXXX so that you can earn a lot of money and pay the bills. its like wishing your life away and I dont get it. :puke:

I graduated in 1977.

HS was a party. I remember people bringing .22 rifles to school to tinker with them and show them off. We made bowie knives in metal shop as semester projects. If a fight broke out, the coaches would let them duke it out for a little while and it usually ended up with the two fighters being friends in the long run. If you dipped your wick in something, it was most unlikely that you would catch something that might kill you. Nobody was openly gay (not that I care if somebody wants to be gay - none of my biz).

Funny thing. Nobody ever got shot or stabbed. Most everybody got along. We smoked our share of Mexican weed and partied constantly when we could get away. School was pretty cool actually but we hated it because we were supposed to.

Much of the American way of life has gone to shit. We are now run by a bunch of sniveling whiny little leftist safety Nazis that want the tiniest minority group to have more rights than the majority. Not exactly sure when it was that our balls were collectively cut off but I hate it. We have kids playing baseball but the "mommies" won't let them keep score because their little ****tard is too much of a sissy to experience failure if they don't win. WTF? I repeat... WTF?

I am thankful to live in Texas where it is not yet a crime to be a man, do a little hunting and fishing, and kick a little ass or own a few guns.

i used to think you were just a funny dude jim. but now, honestly, we need to have a beer and smoke a bowl together because that is EXACTLY how i see it.

we cant fight because someone will sue or whatever. Mommies who stay home all day and drive a suburban or yuokn XL or escalade with 1 kid and 1 dog who think the world revolves around their kid.

its looked down upon to get into a fight. people who drive pickup trucks and go hunting and or fishing and listen to good music IE Hendrix, Floyd, Led, Skynyrd, CCR, ETC. are RED NECKS

i lol at them because they base how cool someone is based on their clothes rather than who they are.

and its really annoying how kids now a days are just different and try to different to be cool. so everybody wears this different clothing and hair style, but that in itself becomes a trend. They are trying to escape conformity but in their efforts they are just falling into the category they are trying to escape from, rather than just being themselves.

in the words of Lynyrd Skynyrd,

My hair's turnin white (not yet.) my necks always been red, and my collar is still blue. and thats what it should be about, not the almighty BUCK

Class of '66 here. For me it was a time of high school football games, playing sandlot football on the wekends in the mud(Seattle),bowling, billiards and just growing up.The draft always was on your mind, watched TV every day to see if someone I knew got killed, counting the number of KIAs & MIAs.The music was the best though...ask Don,he knows.Motown,California beach music, the UK invasion...some Japanese, some So. American. Most of my friends and I had only AM radios but we didn't care 'cause we had music,AM..FM who cared?

Walking a girl you liked home from school, carrying her books, teasing her...just good 'ole fun.Very few guys had cars then so walikng or the city bus was the most common method of transportation. When my folks would let me use the car to go to the library(not) I'd remove the hubcaps and roll the windows down(4 dr. hdtp.) 'cuz I thought it was cool.Mom & Dad were working class people and we never had alot of money but were, for the most part, happy.

I caught the camping bug as a youngster and still have it.We would go to Westport(Wa. coast) area to a state campground and spend the weekend several times a summer. There's nothing like walking on the wet sand with a girl next to you.Occasionally my dad would let me drive the car on the beach,do a few doughnuts, peel out, cruise for miles on the sand.We would go clam digging in the morning and get enough so my mom could make a fresh pot of clam chowder..mmmmm.Those were the days

Watching TV I always envied those guys who lived in Ca. and had a blonde haired girlfriend in a skimpy bikini.Well I got one,Woo Hoo! lucky me,she was a brunette though. Can't have everything I guess

I suppose the worst time was watching the news telling us JFK had been assassinated....very bad day at school. We all watched the one TV in the meeting room for hours.

What will kids of today look back and have to love in their past?

iPhones

iPods?

Xbox?

Wii?

Political correctness gone crazy?

Text messaging?

My Space?

Youtube?

HOLY HELL! People today aren't living LIFE. They are spending their entire existence glaring at some piece of electronic bullshit.

I love technology as much as the next guy but GET OUT AND ENJOY LIFE while you hav it!

I subscribe to the belief that things weren't better in the past. People have a natural tendency to remember pleasurable experiences over bad experiences.

Yes, I do think that some areas of politics have gotten out of hand, but I'll spray paint my black wheels chrome if I'm ever afraid to express my opinion just to be politically correct.

Bottom line is that you should enjoy all the great food on your plate instead of looking back at an old plate that's food isn't really as good as it seems.

you watching shit like all that and rugrats

Things weren't necessarily better in the past... but they were a LOT different. Life was a lot more laid back which was genuine fun.

One thing for sure... live life now and today while it is here. Nothing wrong with the good old days (mine were great) but you have to go for it today.

I hear ya.Kids are demnding a cell ph. at 7-8 yrs. old? and getting 'em? I have a thread in the Photo Forum, check it out,you might like it.I was probably high every day during my tour...(we always worked at night) but slept it off before going out to set up ambush...you talk about some good smoke...mmmmmmm! my days of that shit are over though,I endulge in CR and MGD longnecks only  I always enjoyed being on the ocean...(USN) very peacefull.Picture leaning over the railing(for lack of a better word) and watching flying fish sail along with the ship,or the dolphins playing tag with the bow of the ship. How 'bout target practice where a plane tows a target sleeve(kinda like a blimp) back a mile or two where you are the gunmount captain and get the word ''commence fire'' and I pull the trigger and then you hear BOOM,BOOM,BOOM.I'm sitting between two 3'' barrels spitting out explosive rounds at this target in rapid succession...maybe 20-30 rounds...........what a rush !!!!

here's a little pic
