Couple Dragracing Videos

Well today was the Red River Shoot Out in Oklahoma. The day ended up being kind of a bust for me, BUT I still had a great time and really enjoyed the day.

I didn't bring my Nova out to the track because I have a miss and I want to diagnose it before I start hammering on it.

Since my car is hurt, Dad turned the keys to his Camaro over to me.

A lot of cars showed up from both TX and OK and there was a lot of good people. The only real problem was the track conditions sucked. Due to a heavy rain on Friday washing all the rubber from the track this presented trouble for most of the high horse power cars, as you will see on the videos.

My fastest pass was on the motor and it sucked even for a motor pass. I only ran an 11.30 because I was spinning. Everytime I tried to Spray it, I had to get out of the throttle. 800hp and a slick track just don't mix.

Yeah, I think I pushed it down when I pushed the record button.:dunno:

Damn, that NOS pass looked like one hell of a ride!

And the other dude was off in the grass!

Yeah, that car will mile per hour big time. He always has a hard time getting it shut down at this track. That run he ran just under 140. He is from just a little ways north of you. He is an airplane mechanic from stillwater.

I was certainly puckering by the end of that run. I will usually try to drive through most of that, but that was in 3rd gear at about 120 when it started skating. I'm lucky I didn't leave any stains on the seat.

The track is an older track but normally pretty good. Last weekend we ran multiple 10.00 passes, but we still were not able to 60ft like we should.

lol...I have to get a crowbar to remove leather from between my cheeks when my stuff starts getting loose around 70-75. I can't imagine kicking the rear out at almost twice that.

Y'know, Robert... I was looking at these videos and I had a thought...

If we bracket raced the Camaro against this Malibu I'm driving, I probably could've won, since there is NO WAY that thing could have any traction issues!

Your dead on there. You would ate my lunch. We would have been worthless in a bracket class. Well come to think of it, I was worthless in the heads up class I ran in. I was driving a mid/high 9 second car and never got out the elevens. :fume:

Oh well, I still had a blast once I cleaned myself up :fume:

Well mark your calendar for May 15-17th. That is the Super Chevy Show in Ennis at the Texas Motor Plex. Traction is rarely an issue on that track. It will about pull the shoes off of your feet when you walk on it.

Very cool!

Damn! Spinning HARD on the NOS pass. I don't think it ever hooked at all until you lifted. Are you running 10.5s?

I'm guessing you're not going to the Pontiac Nationals in Tulsa, the weekend of May 9th? Some folks from DenaliTrucks.com are supposed to be going to that. I guess it wouldn't hurt me to head north one weekend and head a little ways south the next.

The class I was running in was a DOT class, so I had to run a street legal tire. I was running a 28 X 11.5 Mickey Thomson ET street. We normally run a 28 10.5 Slick. The slick is actually wider then the ET street. MT measures side wall to side wall on the Street tires and thread width on the slicks.

What kind of fuel do you run in the nova and camaro?

My cousin had a kick ass 77 chevy stepside. That thing would book it for a truck. I think mid 11's at the old airport track we had back home. Man that track sucked. A motorcycle runnin 160 would bounce all over the place.
