I have a rattle on my driver door when I put my leg against the handle. If I move my leg off of it, gone. The part that is rattling is under the window buttons. Very odd.

I wonder if the '09 has the same "seat belt twist" issue? If your passenger side rear seat belt clasp isn't turned the right way, it rattles on the plastic of the cab and drives you insane! Many of us have been through this. You stop, get out, rotate the belt clasp 180 degrees, shut the door, and life is good.

Just a thought.

That's what my mystery rattle/thump was too.

Same here!

I also have a rattle in my head liner.... Sounds like the wire going to the overhead interior light isn't secured very well

I have this same rattle in my headliner,I agree....It sounds like the wire going to the domelight.

I have had my truck for just over a month. So far it has two rattles that arent minor. One coming from the rear and the one in the dash. Its not the seatbelt as I have experienced that one before. The dealer is of no help at all but thats to be expected. I will find them myself as I basically feel any new GM vehicle is a DIY item the warranty is only going to cover catastrophic failures.

The reason I am posting is to put this out there to all of you that have had a few GM trucks over the years.. Is it me or is this the worst assembled truck since those made prior to the GMT-400 series? My father has a GMT-400 series truck on his farm with close to 200k and it has 1 small rattle. I have owned 2 GMT-800 trucks and not a single issue like this. I dont doubt that the truck is engineered better in terms of some of the items such as the new suspension. Its just assembled poorly. Maybe its engineered poorly either way attention to detail was definately left down on the Ford level this time. My younger brother has the F-150 and that was my first complaint..it started to rattle a few months after he got it. Well looks like Chevy has reverted back to that also.

Pretty pooor..this will not win over buyers of foriegn vehicles no matter how you get to say they are great along with Howie Long.

I found a rattle under my steering wheel. It is the cover on the bottom part of the dash that allows access to everything under the column. I haven't fixed it yet but when I do I think I'll only put a piece of foam or felt in there. I'm not going to bother taking it to the dealership.

Hey guys, buckle your back seatbelts. I did that yesterday and it seemed to have helped quite a bit, even though the thudding sound was nothing like my previous trucks seatbelt chatter issue.

As far as quality is concerned.... My gmt-800 had its fair share of issues; this included rattles, clunks.... And even an issue where the power steering wouldn't work but that was deemed 'normal' by GM...

So I don't think the gmt900 trucks are any worse, especially since most of these rattles are us being overly picky... I can't hear any rattles with my radio on (even at low volume)... Now having NO power steering in tight parking lots, that IS an issue

It seems the more I read the more new small rattles come up. I am completely convinced that they left there tools at home when they assembled the interiors and everything is finger tight.

I have the rattle in the rear too. I narrowed it down to an arm in the seat mechanism. Almost like the pin that the arm roates on isn't holding everything tight enough so the arm rattles back and forth. It drives me nuts. The only 'fix' that I have found was taking some foam from an arts and crafts store and glueing it on the side of the arm. Now when it bouces back and forth I don't here it near as much. After quieting that one down I now have a rattle behind the radio (its not anything to do with the radio. I've taped EVERYTHING up behind it and still makes the rattle) and under the driverside dash just above my knees while I'm driving. I eliminated one but gained two more. Maybe I should quit know before it becomes 4 rattles. :smash:

I hate to bring this thread up from the dead but I finally had the time to figure outwhat is causing these rattles. I stopped BOTH of them with a little time and patience.

1. The rattle under the dash. Well I started by pulling the big plastic panel that is directly below the dash. 1 bolt, 2 screws, and a few clips and its off. Just like that I get a funny surprise; a screw lands at my feet. Odd considering no one, not even the dealer, has ever had this panel off since I bought this truck last January. So I take a look to see where this escape artist screw came from and I see 4 other screws that are very near ready to fall out as well!! Appearantly GM decided it wasn't neccessary to tighten the bolts that hold the metal dash supports to the plastic panels. Way to go GM. I tightened them down and no more rattle. Awesome.

2. Now the rattle coming by the radio. I started by removing the HVAC and accessory controls below the radio. At this point I start banging on the dash to see if I can reproduce the rattle. As I place my hand on the right side of the inside radio pocket I find it. Turns out with the latest round of trimming to get the radio to sit flush I created an opportunity for the plastic side peices to rattle against the sides of the dash itself. A quick trim of the offending plastic peices with the cutoff wheel and the dassh is now silent. I couldn't be happier.

I'm not sure if this little endeavor will help anyone else but I thought I would throw it out there anyway.

I have the same problem...however, now its gotten to the point where it rattles even when my leg isn't touching the door handle part of the door panel. Annoying! Plus I have the rattling crap in the back set area too. Good times.

No kidding. I am a very bad offender of this. In fact, my mirror control rattles when I am driving and it drives me crazy. So much, in fact, that I am asking the dealer to look at it tomorrow.

I have a similar rattle in the right rear door. I found it was the interior door panel itself. I have not fixed it yet, but put a shim between the upper right corner of the plastic panel and door frame and rattle is gone.
