I Give Up On My Search For The Right Magnaflow Muffler

I've emailed a couple of merchants, and Magnaflow and I have received no answers.

 

I want to just replace the muffler on my 02 ext can 5.3 Silverado Z71.

 

Anyone know which one I need. What size inlet and outlet. Which length?

I forget if it's offset or not. (I can check later again on that)

Not to deep, but something that sounds more manly than what I have. I'm on the phone a lot and I am driving customers around quite a bit. So I need to be able to have conversations with them without yelling.

How bout a Flowmaster 50 series? I have a 40 and I think it would be a little louder/deeper than you are looking for.

I had a 12288 (18", 3" in, dual 2.5" out) installed on my 02 a few months back.....nice rumble, definitely more manly. If you only want a single in single out get the 12249 (18", 3" in, 3" out)....don't worry about the offset, a good exhaust man will make it work properly. Longer will make it quieter, shorter louder.

I have the 3" SI/SO 5x8x18 on the 05 and the 3" SI/SO 5x8x14 on the 08. Both sound great.

I just switched out my Magnaflow to a Cherry Bomb Vortex. I wanted some grumble at idle that was deep and bassy, not a "cackle" and loud. You can check out the old muffler on youtube to see what it sounds like. 3"SI/2.5"DO w/ 45'd rolled tips and SS style exit, Muffler #12588 (Big Body Style) Magnaflow. I haven't had the chance to make one of the new one, but I love it! Check some sound clips from Youtube on the Vortex on a chevy, sounds perfect...Hope I helped a little. Good luck...

I had this on my truck, was really quiet, decent rumble if you got on it.. but i had a Magnaflow cat back 1 into duals on my truck. I opted to cut out the muffler and live with the risk of a Fix It Ticket from straights.. too loud for most though.
