Taller Tire

I have put a leveling kit on my 07' Silverado Classic 1500, and would like to go up to a 33" tall tire, and stay with the same width as my OEM 275/55 R20's. My OEM wheels are 8.5" wide. What size do I actually need to fit these wheels properly? I am considering the Cooper Zeon LTZ in a 275/60 20 XL, but I'm not sure if it is the right width for my wheels. Is the Cooper Zeon LTZ a good choice for mostly on-road applications, with very little towing or hauling heavy? I know that it comes in a LT305/55 R20, but I don't believe that I have enough clearance for that tire. Any opinions?

275/60/20 will work fine.

They are the same width as your stock tire... both are 275mm wide

Just curious, can a 305/55 R20 fit on my 07' Classic 1500, with the leveling kit on the front? My 20" wheels are 8.5" wide, so I don't know if the 305/55 20 will wear properly. Anyone?

A 305/55/20 is 12" wide, so an 8.5" wide wheel is fine.

It'll be a tighter fit... maybe some minor trimming, but will look good

You might pull it off. I ran that tire on some 20x9's on my 03 1500 HD with the t-bars cranked some. I rubbed a little.

You might pull it off. I ran that tire on some 20x9's on my 03 1500 HD with the t-bars cranked some. I rubbed a little.

I have decided on the Cooper Zeon LTZ, in 305/50 R20 XL. They are 32.18" diameter, 10.37" tread width, 14/32" deep lugs, and wheel width is recommended from 8.5"-11", so hopefully my 8.5"-20" wheels won't cause the tire to wear prematurely. They also make an LT 305/55 R20, that is 33.2" tall, 10.2" tread width, and the lug depth is 16/32", but I don't need a 10 ply tire on my 1/2 ton, plus at almost $100 more per tire. I think that the XL will suit my needs perfectly, as I don't go off-roading, other than an occasional farm road.
