Outside Door Handle .. Would This Work?

Recommended Posts

Someone tried to break into my truck the other night.. The drivers side door handle is cracked and someone jammed a screwdriver into the lock Cyl.

I have an 03 Tahoe LS - and it has a key hole on the pass door. The lock cylinder is a freaking rip off, and i never use it.

Can I use a rear door handle (no key hole) from a drivers side rear, and put it on the front to save the $$ for the lock cyl?

Thanks!

Yeah, I believe you could use one,... but I wouldn't leave yourself without a lock. Ebay will have a handle you need. I threw a set of those out not that long ago. I'm sure if you ask around on a few boards, someone will have one. I couldn't give my stock handles away from my 03.

People suck though.. sorry.

Thanks! Well the handle is cheap - its only like $40 brand new. But the lock cylinder is $$$

My 03 has a pass side front key hole - so worst case I use that.. But I dont care if I have one on the drivers side. SO if I can use the same handle from the drivers rear, and save some $$ .. fine w/ me.

Yes.. People DO suck!

The passenger door handle from 04+ will not have the keyhole. Order that , and on the driver's side, get the rear driver's door handle. You will need to swap the clip, from the old driver's handle, to the new one, and one screw bolt, will be 1/2 in lower. Just bend the door metal edge flat, at that stud, and it will tighten. You will need to start the nut, on the handle, and slide it, onto the door. Use an open-end wrench, through the rubber access hole, to tighten. Also, remove the key rod to the door latch.

I'd have a back up for when the battery in your key fob dies. Think Onstar.

Backup would be the passenger side door.

o, I gathered you were getting rid of all the key holes, nevermind then, but now my question is why bother if the same problem will present on the passenger side?

***EDIT*** reread topic.
