Towing Question

I have a 2008 Chevy Silverado Z71 4x4. I will primarily be towing a 2 place snowmobile trailer and a Sea-doo trailer in the summer months. My question is how much of a drop should I get for the drawbar? The hitch ball is the 1 7/8".

I would suggest a 4" drop hitch.

Enough to make the trailer tow level. Alot deals with the tires you have on the truck and how high or low your trailer is

Standard size trailer tires and the tires on my truck are the stock Bridgestone Dueller A/T's.

 

4" is one of the sizes I was considering just doing rough measurements with the trailer.

Yeah it's gonna depend on the trailer.

 

I have a car trailer, and a 2" drop works for me b/c the tongue is fairly high off the ground.

2 place snowmobile and jet ski trailers are small and likely will need at least a 4" drop, maybe 6"?

As stevens07 mentions, whatever drop is required so that the trailer rides as level as possible.

I have the same truck as you and I haul my jet ski trailers with a 4" drop and they are level

yep, all depends on tires and trailer. I had to buy a 2" drop and turn it upside down for my boat.

I wouldn't go much farther then a 4inch.. boat accesses can be less then ideal approach around here and possibility always hangs its head of getting hung up.. should be level if you keep any of your gear in da bed to go with the toys ;)

measure the top hich to the ground,then make the trailer level and make the measurement from the top ball to ground and take the higher numer of eighter and deduct and that will tell you the hight you need to become level eigher the rise or the drop .

Both, but the drop hitch will not affect the truck being level. Tongue weight will lower the rear.
