Ez Lift Tailgate?

I was at the GMC dealer yesterday checking out some of the remaining 09's while my drivers door lock actuator was being replaced. One had the "ez lift" tail gate. Honestly, I couldn't tell the difference. What did I miss?

My boss's Tundra has the Toyota version of this. You can open the handle, let go, and she'll slowly creep down. It's kinda weird. Although I'm not sure, I believe this was the answer to their tailgate failures . . . :)

Never used the GM one. I was taught as a pup to slowly let it the gate down, NEVER drop it. So it wouldn't do me a lick of good. :D

**Edit, I'm probably talking about the EZ Down. EZ Lift would help you 'lift' the gate.

Well, I do have the EZ lift tailgate and do think there is a bit of a difference. No way in heck I would just drop it and let it go down on its own, doesn't hold that much.

*edit: I see you were referring to EZ down Nick. I didn't even know that existed.

All it does is make it seem lighter to lift and it does come in handy when you have both hands full and don't want to drop something to free up an arm to shut the tailgate. Mainly, I just wanted the locking capability, didn't need the EZ lift but it came as a package.

I actually added the EZ down kit from DeeZee to my tailgate. Just because it makes it nice when I have my little girl in one hand and a stroller in the other. Just pull the handle and let it go.

Plus, I had a Jegs gift certificate that I used.
