3m To Control Rock Chips On Nbs?

Anyone tried the 3m to protect the lower panels from chips? Like/dislike?? Flaps are OK, but not a big fan of mud flaps, esp in S Texas...does not rain much but gravel roads chipping lower paint on nbs. May try 3m and nerf bar steps to slow the chips down?

3M is really good but you gotta make sure that it is clean before you apply it to the rockers/lower doors. Nerf bars are good but you might want to get the running boards instead.

You could get the rockers Rhino Lined or Linex'd if that floats your boat, I didn't do it personally but I have heard of some who have

I have even seen whole trucks covered in Line-X, just comes down to how much protection you want versus what you want to look at.

It works well. As Mike mentioned, the area where it will go needs to be very clean. You also want to make sure it isn’t raining out, or at least don’t be driving in the rain after it’s installed. It needs to adhere properly, then you are OK. I had to peal off a section because I had the stuff installed in the fall and could not give it the proper set up time.

I sure wish I would have had it installed on the bumpers. Both front / rear bumpers are literally peppered with rock chips. I’m going to have to have them re-painted or powder coated. Another area I should have installed it is around the wheel wells.

I don't have it over the rocker panels but do have it on the hood and bumper corners. I absolutely love the stuff. No chips whatsoever on the hood. I did manage to scuff it up a little bit by getting a little over zealous at a gas station with the windshield cleaner but other than that it looks perfect.

I have the entire front of the Cadillac covered with the 3M.

I even had the front of the outside mirrors and the headlights covered.

Been 2.5 years and 62,500 miles.

NO CHIPS anywhere that the 3M covers.

I got some stuff from summitracing.com. It was not 3M but same type of product, came in a roll. Except for the fact that it was a pain to get all the bubbles out, it looks "almost" as good as what comes on the fender flares of the truck from the factory.
