Clicking Behind Glove Box/vent

Recommended Posts

Recently my truck started to have a constant clicking sound (like a relay). So I pulled apart the dash, removed the glove box etc.. Then removed the vent and found a plastic box with a bar code on top of it that was creating the sound. If I push on it or unplug it the clicking stops.

I was hoping someone would know what this box controlled.

Thanks in advance

It is a constant click. Sometimes click when I turn the ignition on sometimes not. But almost always when I start the truck. Unless its unplugged. It drives me crazy. So yesterday I left it unplugged to see what it controlled and have not noticed anythng yet.

i have a 2003 Tahoe that makes the same clicking sound behind the dash, however i found out if you move the air control switch 1 click to the right meaning the control that moves the air valves from front air flow to mid to floor, the clicking would stop. i think its the flap or air control that is loose or defective that controls air coming from the ac unit.

hope this helps

Mine does it even without the air on or even the vent fans on. But I'll give it a try and see if I notice anything.

Thanks

It's one of the little control motors ("actuators') for one of the HVAC control doors. Mine went bad for the heat/cool blend door. They popped a new actuator in and it fixed it.

I have a clicking noise coming from the passenger side air vent when I have the A/C on. The tick changes with the fan speed. Anybody know what it is or how hard it is to fix?

Sounds like you have a leaf stuck in the fan. I don't know how to get to it, I'm sure someone else on here knows how.
