Touchless Car Wash - 07-08's

anyone run their 07-08 thru one of these yet? I am wondering how the thinner body panels will hold up against the high mph air dryer?? or the high pressure jets on the paint? I ask, because during the winter months I try and get the salt off regularly. It really saved my old 03 when it came time to sell it, looks wise. thanks.

While I try to avoid car washed like the plaque, I too sometimes use them in the winter (touchless only). I have seen no difference between my 01 Tahoe and my 08 Yukon Denali when going through a car wash.

I gotta say, I am not a big fan of touchless carwashes. Any detergent strong enough, water hot enough, or pressure high enough to remove road salt from the finish without a little rubbing can't be good for the finish. I tried them twice and when the truck dried it almost looked like it did prior to the the wash minus the heavy stuff. I will occasionally use a brushless wash in the winter(the ones with the long narrow thin looking cloths). I have also been known to have a sheet of ice left in my driveway by the time I get through washing it myself in the winter. I guess anything is better than nothing. Oh and by the way I have no idea if it would cause any sheetmetal damage to the new thinner shelled trucks, but I doubt it. Just my 2 cents worth.

The panels will rattle like they're gonna fall-off, but I have not a problem with them (I only use them in the winter to get salt off).

EDIT: What the heck was I talking about? ... I must have been talking about when I took my sister's Grand Am through there ... who knows, but it's Friday!!

I've gone through a touchless wash once in my Denali and there were no unusual rattles or vibrations. I've heard that automatic car wash soaps can strip wax, but I've never had a problem even with my other babies--salt definitely causes more damage.

If I were to wash in my own driveway, I'd be using my own pressure washer anyway. The pressure washers in the auto wash are not close enough to do damage to the paint unless you have loose, flaking paint in the first place.

I took my black '07 through the car wash a couple times last winter and I did not have any issues. However, like other said, it is not good for the paint/wax but better than letting the salt sit on the paint. I NEVER go through the drive through though. I ALWAYS get out and manually wash it in the bay so I can control how close the nozzle gets to the paint and focus on areas where extra salt collects. I am also able to get the undercarriage clean as well doing it manually. I will take my '08 through the same way this winter but ONLY when absolutely necessary. Like others, I will freeze my butt off and wash it in the driveway as much as I can. Then again, I am a freak when it comes to keeping our vehicles clean.

Every truck (and car) I've owned - including the new one - has been through one of these car washes weekly for the entire time I've owned them. Never had any dull paint. Never had any issues. People always comment on how my trucks look NEW when I am selling them.

People get anal about this stuff, but any real benefits are in their head.

Been there done that. it was so cold out once when I was done I could not get into the truck because it was frozen solid.

I put mine through one every few weeks. I did with my old truck and it looked damn good when I got rid of it. It started to get a little worse because I got lazy about waxing it. :D But I don't notice any denting or loud panels or anything. I do usually get out and look before I leave. But that's mainly because I'm still scared the truck is too big for the washers. :)

I thought my dark maroon was hard to keep clean until I got this dark blue. But it sure is sexy while clean. :D

I only use the touchless is the winter months, only trouble I have ever had was at one that the darn wall was a sheet of ice and i didnt even notice, well it came crashing down on my wifes car half way through the wash. After the wash I got out and there was not a mark on the car, I called the number they had posted for trouble, the guy came out and gave me a book for 10 free washes. and he was their in less then 20 min, i wont complain.

I try to avoid car washes in general, but I used a touchlees one last month when I was out of state and I had no issues. I wouldn't be worried about the dryer causing any dents......This past summer I was caught in a thunder storm w/ marble size hail coming down real hard and I was positive that my truck was going to be severly dented  . After the storm passed I checked it top to bottom and found no dents....suprised the hell out of me.

I use the touchless once in a while. Although no problems, I do notice that when it rains, its loud as hell when it hits the roof. Never sounded so loud in my Colorado....
