I wouldn't touch a GM card again with a 1000' pole. HSBC Bank (the underwriters of the card) has the worst customer service BY FAR of any card I've ever had to deal with.

I'll stick to my Capital One cards, thanks. I've had nothing but great luck with them.

Well, I got $4,500.00 off new GM vehicles. No issues.

Worst customer service, YES. My biggest complaint is the number of 'courtesy' calls to offer you the same unwanted feature you turned down last week. Told me they were exempt from 'Do Not Call' list due to the account with them. Three (3) days after contacting a supervisor requesting to be removed from their list - you guessed it - another call. Now getting offers every ten (10) buisness days. Keeping a list for possible legal action. Back to OP, nice offer but not ready for a new truck yet......

You must have a different type of account than mine. I have never received a call from them for solicitation.

I do think there are more than one GM Point charge cards.

I am amazed at the people who complain about 'free money'. I also qualify for the Business Choice Program. And I receive another $500.00 Low's Gift Card.

I have purchased two new GM/Chevrolet trucks and have received $4,500 plus $1,000 in Low's cards - this decade.

I use my GM charge card for everything. When I reach the $1,500 mark, I switch to another card - with different points/options.

And once or twice a year - GM doubles the amount.

I just don't get it. Free money - and some still complain.

But all are entitled to their opinions. That is what this board is about.

There's absolutely no such thing as free money, no matter how much you might like to believe there is.

I bet you'd be complaining too if your credit score got impacted negatively as a direct result of HSBC Bank's improper handling of your GM Card account. That's exactly what happened to me.

Certainly, if one has a bad experience with any credit card - well - then - drop it.

From what I read here, there are more than one GM cards.

And the amounts I stated above were true and factual. Maybe a better term would be 'bonus points' instead of free. Although the end result is the same.

It never ceases to amaze me - that people - when offered 'bonus points' - or dollars off AND for those that qualify - $500.00 Lowe's card - they scoff at this and claim that it doesn't exist.

Of course, some that post here are just attempting to rile people up - with nonsense and inaccuracies - on purpose. One has to take this into effect when posting on a public board.

Gotta love those kids !

I to am a GM card holder, and have been for going on 9 years now. I have gotten well over $6,000 in rebates over the last eight years when buying my wife and I new vehicles.

I have also never had a single issue with their service or with them calling with offers. Not Once! But maybe i am one of the lucky ones.

As a poster before posted. Whats wrong with free money? There is no yearly fee, so the rebates don't cost you a thing. (As long as your smart and pay your credit card off every month before it accumulates any interest)

And you got to admit, 5% rebate (up to a certain amount of course) is really good in todays economy when most offer 1% rebates or less.

I have had a GM card since 1993. I cannot recall any phone solicitations, I have gotten stuff in the mail like rounding up my points if I buy a new vehicle. Like when I bought my 09 CTS they rounded my $700 in earning to $2000, that was $2000 off invoice price they were selling me the car for.

Since I have had the GM card I NEVER paid them a dime in interest (pay off every month) and they gave me $10,129.42 off new GM vehicles. That's money off I would have never received without the GM Card.

I have also been told a couple of times by dealer staff that I got the good card, the original. Apparently some newer issue cards have limits on the earnings and redemption??

Unfortunately, the newer cards do set redemption limits. For example, the new Camaro is capped at $1000...

There has never been a cap on the classic GM card.

OK,Good to know.....I knew there wasn't caps, but I thought they added them,I remember my Aunt (who an original card) saying something about when she was going to buy a new car there was a cap of $2,000.00,that was a couple years ago.

The Classic GM Card (that I have had since 1991) has no vehicle cap, but total earnings are capped at $3,500 ($500 per year for 7 years, after which you start loosing unused earnings more than 7 years old). My wife and I have cashed in approximately $11,000 since 1991 and never paid any interest. They do call every day for about a week at a time every three months or so. I just read the caller ID and ignore.
