For those new to the thread/TLDR version: Some: "No I wouldn't buy this again." Some Others: "Yes I would, I love it." Grumpy Bear: "Rebuy? I wouldn't buy it to begin with!"5 points

Because of the many issues I had with my truck, I had to let go of my beloved ‘19 TB. I purchased it with the intent to keep it 10+ years based on my previous experience with Chevy (even first model years like a rock solid 07 Avalanche that was still running strong when I sold it at 150k miles). Needless to say I was very disappointed with the experience of having a 60k MSRP truck have leaky windows, check engine lights, breaking door knobs, defective paint and I can go on and on.. The worst of which may have been the complete incompetence and lack of care on behalf of the (multiple) dealerships I’ve worked with (little care in providing good service, sloppy repairs, lack of loaners, etc). Now, I will definitely be back shopping for a truck again in a few years give the need to haul dirt bikes and other toys around. However for now, especially with other life events happening (adding a second set of twins to family!) I needed something with a bigger interior anyway. So thanks to COVID used car values I was able to kill two birds with one stone: get rid of my trouble prone TB and still not get completely washed. We decided to replace it with a 3 row SUV, seriously considered a Suburban for a while but didn’t want to buy the new one, due to the risk of having issues again with a new model but more important having to deal with crappy Chevy dealerships again. And having owned performance German sedans in the past I wanted something more fun anyway, so long story short we settled on this. I dub it the “500 hp minivan” ? but for those unsure what they’re looking at it’s a BMW X7 M50i with a 523hp twin turbo V8. Basically a USA made, German engineered muscle SUV with endless luxury. Needless to say its a blast to drive, fits our whole family 2 sets of twins and can even tow up to 7500 lbs... it doesn’t compare in no way to the GM trucks but nevertheless we are super happy with it. And I will still be looking to add a truck as a 3rd car sometime in the next 3-4 years. Lots of awesome stuff coming out like the RAM TRX, potential Silverado ZRX and new V8 supercharged Raptor as well as Cybertruck and Rivian so overall really exciting times we live in! Despite my love-hate relationship with the Silverado this forum and its members have always been a tremendous resource during the, unexpectedly short, ownership. The experience of owning the truck wouldn’t be the same without it! Hope to be back at some point (with something more reliable lol) but for now.. good bye and happy trucking all!3 points

I’ll add... the only time I’m personally annoyed with A/S is when I roll up to a stop sign that I know I’m only going to stop at for like 1-2 seconds before turning or going thru. When I’ve forgotten to turn A/S off, that’s been a ?? because just as the truck is shutting off, I’m already lifting my foot off the pedal to go. Doesn’t feel very good on the vehicle.3 points

Don't really like it so I've pressed the button to disable it each time (on this truck and on previous trucks). Then installed the eliminator so it recognizes it as off full-time and it's been wonderful. I would equate the eliminator install similar to spraying a squeeky door hinge with wd40. While none of it is earth shattering business, after dealing with a squeeky door for months... the second you close that door in silence without the squeek you think "why the heck didn't I do this sooner?" The same is said for the auto stop eliminator!3 points

Leave the little straps on the new shocks while bolting them on...you won’t even need to compress them much by hand. Just takes small adjustments to line them up from there.3 points

Unbolt and replace. No need to jack it up, you can compress the shocks by hand.3 points

There are two screws at the bottom that have to come out. To get to them you have to remove the center console upper trim and then another small trim price that hides the screws. Look at YouTube for the Auto Stop Eliminator. That video has instructions in how to remove the radio bezel that you’re trying to remove.2 points

Just ordered my GMPE from Chevy Accessories' website. ?? I should re-title this thread "You have $2000. What mods do you do", because I talked myself into the GM CAI a few days ago and ordered it from ShopChevyParts.com. ? Once I started down the road of changing up the exhaust, I figured I might as well just complete the set so that I'm not stuck thinking I should have bought the CAI after I have the GMPE exhaust installed. Going to install the GM CAI over Labor Day weekend, then have the GMPE installed right after that so they can flash my ECM all in the same visit. Can't wait to have this all done to raise my 5.3L to new life! ?? Thanks to all for the opinions! I'm going to enjoy these purchases far longer and far more than a tonneau or shocks.2 points

I really do not care for it. If you’re the first car at a light there is a delay and then a lurch getting going. Bought the Range DFM disabler. It disables the auto stop, too. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk2 points

Mine is LoMax Access Tri-fold and it actually folds only twice as the 3rd panel nearest the cab doesn't fold up towards the rear window. It's easily removable for full bed access. I believe it's the LoMax Stance that folds up completely and blocks the rear window. Also, I have the Bedrug custom fit for my short bed and it's great. Perfect fit and I haven't yet used the bed tie-down strips that came with it. Given that the tonneau stays closed I see no need to "glue" down the BedRug.2 points

Would I rebuy my 2019 GMC? Yes.14000 miles works perfect best truck ever owned. Tow a 21ft Bigfoot trailer works great. Only thing that has been a problem is the Z31 emblem has sharp points on the Z part that catches microfiber towel. GM should issue a recall on this.2 points

Here’s how your story and reasoning is irrational. you chose to drive ONE truck for 3 minutes and the lowest grade WT GM offers. LMFAO. Are you kidding me??? SMH Also, second when I bought my truck I test drove it for 10 minutes. It didn’t impress me much over my K2 at first but I bought it because of the 0% interest, plus I got discounts on it, and I got a heck of deal on my 2018 (drove it 2 years paid $45k for it and got $42k on trade in) here is where on your 3 min test drive you don’t get to appreciate the truck: The rear cabs in these trucks are so much roomier. The rear center counsel cup holders, air vents, and rear heated seats are fantastic and huge upgrade over K2 trucks. The engine combinations are amazing. The steering, road manners, and comfort of the T1s trump the K2s. I take this truck everywhere. Heck it took me almost a year to put 10k miles on my 2018. I’ve had this T1 for 4 months and have almost 8k miles on it. I love driving it. (Remember I owned 3 K2 trucks) The cameras and infotainment make the truck so much easier to park and deal with in a daily basis. The cabin layout and interior is simple and easy to use. (Even you’re tired old @$$ couldn’t mess it up) All these things you can’t appreciate in a 3 min test drive. THIS is how your reasoning is irrational. hopefully you took my advice from last night and we can see a happy bear from now on have a fantastic day and rest of your weekend. I’m going to go drive my T1 to my grandfathers house for a family gathering and cook him a steak! I know he won’t be grumpy and irrational!2 points

I have this issue sometimes when I hook up the trailer to an already running truck. I never have the problem if the truck is turned off - then plug in the trailer - then turn on the truck.1 point

Yep I had the same issue...tech said it was the rubber boot and they removed it and lubed it and then reinstalled and the noise went away completely!1 point

Sorry, I don’t remember the time estimate that it said. But I do remember it finishing faster, so the estimate was definitely longer than the 20 minutes or so it actually took over complete.1 point

That X7 looks sweet... Reading your post makes me think you like to stay on top of things. Don't go for BMW's extended maintenance oil changes, I never did and never had. We have a '13 X5 that has been solid, but had some initial problems like the horrendous oil pan 8 maintenance and enjoy it! Sent from my SM-N975U using Tapatalk1 point

Lol, can’t disagree with that statement but at least I will be put in a nice loaner while it’s repaired/serviced. Needless to say an extended warranty will be in my future ?1 point

Installed the auto stop kit last week. Seem to me totally changed the truck no more bullshit shut off at stops and forgetting to turn the dam thing off. Very easy install could not worked out better.1 point

Mine is fixed!!! For anyone who is still following this. Mine was the pinion shims that came from the factory. Measured my driveline angles and the working angle from the rear end to the drive shaft was 4* difference. Shouldn’t be any greater than 1*. I Spun the shims around and it’s completely gone. Can’t believe the dealer couldn’t figure something this simple out. Guess if you want it done right you have to do it yourself. Not sure why the 2019’s came with shims from the factory when they weren’t needed. Seems the 2020’s don’t have shims and this problem is gone on them. Check your angles, I bet this is your problem! Thanks Slide. I think I would go with just the wire jumper without a diode. Does anyone know what the minimum wire gauge is for a jumper on the BCM? I'm not sure what gauge wire they put on diodes, but I'd want to be sure I'm not under-sizing the wire I use just to get it in the slot. On that note, how big of a wire can fit in the slot?1 point

Your logic is irrational. You never OWNED the truck. You test drove it. There is a huge difference. This thread is for people who OWN the truck. You seem like an intelligent old man, but your posts on this thread are making you look/sound quite foolish. Also many trucks drive/ride different. My first K2 truck rode totally different than my second and third one.1 point

I have the BakFlip MX4 also and love the cover, very nice and can hold a heavy load of snow in the winter with no issues. Looks great and has a very low profile. As far as your tailgate issue, that is due to the stiff rear seal, what I did is used some silicone spray on a rag and liberally wiped down the rubber seals and it now works perfectly when releasing the tailgate.1 point

316hepster, sorry for the delay. I finally got around to installing them earlier today. Love the way they look. I will not be driving it much this week but I will be going on a 10 day trip next weekend. So I’ll be putting about 1k miles on it. So I will get back to you and let you know how they work out for me. Hopefully they don’t end up on the side of the highway. Haha!1 point

Did you miss the UGLY part? Why buy again what I wouldn't buy to begin with. Don't you talk about Pepper like that. Shes a sensitive girl. She now has 126 K on the clock and has yet to show a single issue attributed to the K2** trucks. Not a single one. She's been a perfect lady. I don't care how much money the Governor's has, his daughter is ugly and I'm not asking her to the dance. OH I sat in one. Lord that seat is crap. Did they get that from a kindergarten class room? My seat doesn't squeak and it isn't loose. Don't get fresh with me young man. The gall of some people!1 point

Finally got the Black Pearl how I like her... Took a while to install but well worth it. The kit does fit the double cab regardless of what RCX says on instruction book and on the phone ?. Also, did not have to take apart the strut at all, contrary to the instruction manual again. Spoke directly to RCX about a missing preload spacer that is supposed install into the strut. This has been discontinued for the Silverado. One more thing.... I’m running 35x12.5x18 wheels w 2” spacers and absolutely no rubbing on any of the lift components. Love the lift!!!1 point

I ordered mine on the 9th on Ebay: https://ebay.us/6caLs6 it's coming from GMParts Direct, currently going for $85. I got it today, so free expedited shipping was nice. I haven't put them in yet, but I notice, per paperwork, the two colors for Chevrolet are Purple(DD) and Orange(PD).. but I got Purple and Yellow(unless I'm color blind), so I hope it's not a Chevy on one side and a Cadi on the other.. ?? **Update, they are both Chevy Logo.. **Second set of pic are after I notched the lamp insert so I can straighten them. **Straighten to line up with body1 point

Let's remove the guess then. Investigate the Hersey number. Film thickness is the result of 1.) Absolute viscosity 2.) Velocity 3.) Load per unit length or (v * N) / P The result of this equation is a ratio, a number without dimension, between the films thickness and the surface roughness of the object(s) being lubricated. This equation is used to define the Stribeck curve to graph lubrication regimes. In the motor all parameters vary greatly thus does the Hersey number and the lubrication regime. Film thickness can be from under a micron (cam/follower - cylinder wall/rings) to several thousands of an inch (main bearing). The shear stress relationship is the very definition of viscosity. Shear viscosity Featured snippet from the web The property of a fluid to resist the growth of shear deformation is called viscosity. The form of the relation between shear stress and rate of strain depends on a fluid, and most common fluids obey Newton's law of viscosity, which states that the shear stress is proportional to the strain rate: τ = µ dγ dt. ANY two bottles of any brand oil with the same absolute viscosity will have the same film thickness under the same conditions of test. Rat exceeds the P to reduce the ratio to near zero testing only the EP package. A tricky part is the SAE viscosity is the apparent viscosity or viscosity / density. Absolute viscosity does not consider fluid density. Why is this relevant? Two fluids of the same apparent viscosity may have different densities thus different absolute viscosity. Among like fluids such as mineral oil to mineral oil the difference is so small as to not change the Hersey number in any significant manor. However, when comparing a mineral oil to say a POE the difference is enough to create one full unit SAE of difference. That is a POE of W20 will have the same film thickness as a mineral W30 even though they have the same viscosity cPs. This is how I know he test at P so high so as to rupture ANY film. If he did not QSUD would not be at the top of his list.1 point

New to the site and this is my first post. I must say, there are some FANTASTIC looking trucks in here and your mods are giving me much inspiration! As my name implies, I've got the baby duramax engine so today I ordered: 1. Green and white "DIESEL FUEL ONLY" stickers off eBay to put inside the gas tank door ? 2. AMP Research PowerSteps from 4wheelparts (this weekend is tax free and free shipping)? And to catch up on last week's items: 3. Spray-in bedliner 4. Bakflip Fibermax Tonneau Cover 5. ProClipUSA A/C Vent-mounted iPhone Holder I know #5 sounds uninspiring but it's exactly what I was wanting to do. Partially covers the a/c vent next to the gear shifter (seems to even blow too much on lowest setting). It sits easily in my view between the road and the main information screen + face recognition works like a charm from there. The gear shifter keeps my hand steady when I need to press anything on the phone. And lastly, I velcro'd a charging cord hidden along the dash/console lines to the the USB outlet which lets me charge the phone and use Apple Carplay super easily. Thanks for listening... cheers!1 point
