  1. It's that way by design. There was even a bulletin...which is likely in at least some of the other threads about this. https://gm-techlink.com/?p=13456 Exhaust Pipe Shaped to Avoid Low Contact July 30, 2020 A quick look at the exhaust pipe crossover section on 2019-2020 Silverado and Sierra models equipped with a V6 or V8 engine shows that it is not a completely round shape as other parts of the pipe. (Fig. 27) The unique shape of the exhaust pipe is by design. The kinks or shape of the pipe does not indicate the pipe is damaged. Fig. 27 The exhaust pipe is distinctly formed in order to make it higher from the ground than the adjacent frame members. (Fig. 28) Due to its unique shape, it is not the lowest part on the vehicle and is protected by the frame from contact while traversing over areas with low ground clearance, which helps prevent it from being struck by objects passing under the vehicle. While driving off road, for example, an object would strike the frame first. Fig. 28 The design of the crossover section of the exhaust pipe is hydroformed, or shaped by hydraulic pressure, to an ovate shape that has the same cross-section as a round part of the pipe. There is no flow restriction from the shape and it does not affect engine performance in any way. (Fig. 29) Fig. 29

  3. I have the same truck and same year......the only bulbs halogen are the 2 license plate bulbs, which I dont understand why GM couldn't make those LED like everything else. The Lasfit brand license plate bulbs are the ones to get in my opinion, they say on there website it wont throw a code. Have had mine in 2 months and no code issues.

  4. Check with your dealer as there may be a recall. I had same thing on my 2016. Before I actually had a problem, while having one of the oil changes done, they did a software upgrade. Later, I had the problem anyway and they replaced the vacuum booster pump. @mjm-1957 has the correct answer.

  6. Anyone else keep getting flashed at night? Currently on a long trip, going through Ontario and we (wife is driving at the moment) keep getting flashed by on coming traffic. Low beams on only, dont even have fog lights on. I’m in the process of removing the factory lift kit out of my AT4 for various reasons. The rear is lowered on bilstein shocks, fronts are back ordered. I did aim my headlights before we left eince the ass end is sitting lower. Center of the low beams is 44” from the ground and backed 25’ from the wall and got them aimed perfectly. The on coming traffic quickly release they ****ed up when we give a quick flash back with the 6 light mod and mirror lights to high beam (so low, high, fogs and mirror lights).

  7. Since 2000: 1992 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 (gas) 2009 Ford F-150 Lariat (gas) 2013 Ford F-150 King Ranch (eco- boost gas) 2015 Ford F-250 King Ranch (powerstoke diesel) 2019 Ram 3500 Limited Dually (6.7 Cummins Diesel) And now the 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 AT4 (6.2 Gas) My work truck is a 1998 Dodge 2500 flatbed with the Cummins engine. (And an OJ model Ford Bronco) ALL were/are great trucks! All served their purpose well. I was just ready to down size from the Dually and Cummins engine as i dont pull a loaded horse or hay trailer every day of the week anymore. I really like the looks of the AT4 and how it feels. The 6.2 has plenty of torque and horsepower for everything I need to do. Obviously I’m not a “Make” loyal truck buyer. I believe with today’s technology and quality, that if you follow a regular maintenance schedule and take care of them- all makes are excellent. Certainly there are pros and cons to all- but that’s what makes it fun. Plus I love to tinker and mod my trucks to make my original!

  9. I got my first dose of Moderna Thursday evening. No effects that evening at all....went to work the next day. Very sore arm next morning and by that afternoon, I started feeling puny and sickly. I didn't sleep much Friday night due to a bad headache. Headache continued all day Saturday as well as sore arm. Today, Sunday, all is well.

  10. People are just flash happy busybodies these days. I swear some of them drive around with eyes full of cataracts just waiting for reasons to feel like a victim. Both my stock 16 and stock 19 would get flashed from time to time. But I refuse to aim my properly adjusted, DOT legal low beams into the dirt because they cross someone’s personal brightness threshold. If I messed with suspension or towed frequently at night I would adjust. Otherwise send them the X-Ray.

  11. Yes, and what I find hard to believe is it's "Vintage" and eligible for collector plates. Something like me....it is hard to believe the difference in my mirror since 1996!

  12. As a youngster lots still sold a large number of cars/trucks from the 40's. Never considered I'd ever hear OLDER and 1996 said in the same sentence.

  13. I haven't found this in the manual yet, but here's my experience on my 2019 LTZ: - Push and release (depress) the power button, and the audio mutes. Depress again, and the audio comes back on. - Push and hold the power button, and the system turns off

  14. They’re all that way and it’s been discussed a lot and most say you aren’t going to gain anything with a round tube vs. the flattened tube.

  15. Well Guys the other day I was able to get my wife's impression of a double cab and as expected it was in line with the feedback provided here! We were on our way to the store and I swung by a Chevy dealership and they had a new double cab 2500HD on the lot and the doors were unlocked so I had her get in the back seat. I didn't tell her the back story about why I wanted her to sit in it just that I wanted her to give me her impression of the back seat. The first thing she said was how the bottom cushion is shorter doesn't support her leg like in our current crew cab and that even with the front seat pulled forward it felt a lot tighter. I asked her if there was any scenario where she could see herself riding back there and she said no way and got out! Well there you have it! My quest to see if I could make a double cab with a standard bed work has ended with a hard NO!! Back to searching for crew cabs. Thanks to all that contributed . I really appreciate this forum and when folks stay on topic and provide productive and constructive input for the sake of helping someone else.

  16. Clear coat spray with a touch of black paint added is a better option, seen guys at a custom hot rod shops do it in the paint booth. People overdue it with that VHT stuff and then you can't see jack ****** from their taillights in the daytime.

  18. The AVS covers are great if you change your mind and want to go back to stock at a later date. The other option is to tint them. I think there's a company called nightshade, or something like that, that makes a tint spray for lights.

  19. 2500hd LT 6.6 gas with 3” super lift on 37s, bilstein shocks, tint, ranch hand brush guard, rough country hd2 steps. Really liking the gas burner, it’s a big difference from the 6.0

  22. You can gently bend the bracket to one side enough to gain clearance. Next loosen the trans tail shaft mount and jack it up slightly to gain clearance https://www.truckmodcentral.com/threads/transmission-filter-change-on-02-silverado.4636/ https://www.silveradosierra.com/how-to-articles/how-to-do-a-4l60e-complete-fluid-changeover-filter-t14477.html

  23. That would be a beautiful all purpose daily driver, as is, or restored! A couple of weeks ago, I stumbled across my dream vehicle within a mile of where I live! It was an older (1996) F150 6cyl 5 spd manual 4X4 with 50k. miles. It was a well optioned XLT, one owner, in showroom condition. The owner was eager to sell. My obstacle was I'd have to give up my current truck as we don't have the space to allow me two daily drivers in the driveway! Now if it was a '76 in this condition....

  26. This test tested each brands ULTRA series. (Note the lab used) https://ls1tech.com/forums/advanced-engineering-tech/1949946-iso-4548-12-oil-filter-efficiency-data.html The Purolator Pure One PL22500 NOT tested in this series tests identical to the FRAM ULTRA GUARD XG10575. This is NOT the BOSS tested in this link. I stopped using BOSS filters quite some time ago. Purolator Pure One PL22500 raw data: >5 micron = B2 50% 5 micron = B4.8 79.2% 8 micron = B20 95.0% 10 micron = B50 98.0% 11.4 micron = B100 99.0% 13 micron = B200 99.5% 15 micron = B1000 99.9% 20 micron = B1000 99.9% The link cut off at 15 micron Pure One identical to the FRAM XG. Top three continue to be Purolator Pure One PL22500 (top two tied for filtration) FRAM XG10575 (top two tied for filtration) Royal Purple 20-500 And I believe the AC Delco Ultra UPF63R (12693541) should be added to the BEST list. And pretty much in that order.

  28. The 6112's are pretty good I had them on my 2016 along with the 5160's out back. I didn't realize how good they were until I got my 2021 AT4. the suspension is so soft yet I feel like it bounces over speed bumps. there's more noticeable body roll and it dives when you break hard. needles to say I am not happy with the Ranchos. what engine do you have? I noticed Bilstein has the 6112 for the 6.2/5.3 but not the 3.0 like I have. I'm wondering what the weight difference in the engines is. I hope they make them available soon. Congrats on your new 6112's you'll love them more with the 51000's installed!
