  1. Unfortunately, lemons can happen with any make/model. Sounds like they're really taking care of you though, let us know how it goes!
  2. GMT800s were very competitive for their era, but vehicles just get better with time. The biggest improvement by far was rack-and-pinion steering. The old recirculating ball setup was past its prime and annoying to keep tracking straight on the highway. Many GMT800s as well used the 4L60 trans, which really didn't like towing and was a known weak point. Interiors too were a major change. IMO K2s have the nicest interior GM ever put into a truck. The GMT800 interiors were about what you'd expect for a domestic truck from that era, but man, the pre-2003s were pretty spartan. Basically a carryover from the GMT400s. I've never seen a GMT800 in the last 10 years without rips in the leather. Taken in context, the 800s were good competitive trucks for their time, as are/were the K2s.
  3. That's strange, considering probably 99% of the previous generation on dealer lots had all black interiors. I'm not a fan of black myself, but I do think this look is an improvement over the last gen. Less monochrome with a few different textures. The black wood really pops. Question for you: How is the A/C performance? Black-on-black in the Texas heat is a serious challenge.
  4. Suburbans are too long to really do a whole lot of serious off-roading anyway
  5. Just wish they'd throw in vented seats to the Z71 trims. I have no idea why they're so stingy with those considering the price of the vehicle.
  6. All of them. The vast majority of problems on the K2XX generation of SUVs, like probably 95% are on 2015s.
  7. Sharkfin antennas may leak and have to be replaced, there's a TSB on it, minor issue with only some vehicles being affected. Otherwise, check the AC compressor carefully. 15-16s had issues with them. They were supposedly resolved in 2017, but do diligence.
  8. Not 100%, but more than a reasonable doubt. The 8-speed was flawed from the beginning as it was sort of thrown together as a stop-gap until the 10-speed co-developed with Ford was ready.
  9. Replace car with motorcycle and that’s the strategy H-D themselves have taken. Not exactly going too well for them.
  10. Of course they unveiled it at Barrett-Jackson, that's holy ground for the chubby, balding, white New Balance, golf or Corvette shirt tucked into jean shorts crowd this thing was built for.
  11. This. The limiting factor on towing is not the engine, it's the frame/suspension. The 5.3 engine has more power than HD trucks for 20-30 years ago with high tow ratings.
  12. Why would they not put it in? The competitors have it and it's a very useful feature for many buyers. Plus, it's a standard feature on just about any new vehicle, even a $16k Toyota Corolla. Should absolutely be available on a $50k+ truck.
  13. It's GM being GM. Spend big $$$ to develop great technology, then try not to sell it to customers.
  14. I know this may be kind of redundant, but check to see if there is anything at all in the door. They have a lot of storage compartments and it can be hard to see a small black object if your interior is black.
  15. I'd skip it and the 8-speed in general just to be safe. 6, and 10 speed units seem a lot less problematic.
  16. Does anyone know if this applies to vehicles with adaptive cruise control? I think the brake/vacuum setup is slightly different.
  17. Unfortunately, everyone's body is different and seat comfort is very subjective. That being said, GM has always done seats very well in general.
  18. First things first, clear-bra if you haven't already. Secondly, a high quality touchless car wash probably makes the most sense from a time cost/benefit viewpoint.
  19. Did you do a pre-purchase inspection? A used car is ALWAYS rolling the dice unless you know the owner (family, friend, coworker, etc).
  20. The 2019s were rushed to market to scoop the new Ram. The ACC system is available on 2020s.
  21. It's kind of typical for GM, they do weird stuff like this. On the K2s you couldn't get push button start or rear air vents even in the top trims. On the SUVs it's a super rare feature to actually find equipped on dealer lots, despite being standard in a $16k Toyota Corolla. Yes, some of the "Old man yells at cloud" set don't want it, but guess what it's not 1975 anymore. Truck capabilities are all so high and evenly matched more and more people are shopping based on features rather than numbers, which is why the new Ram is doing so well.
  22. Did not know that about Ram, but not a huge surprise. The A/C in the last gen was average at best. The new F-150s though, are pretty great in that department equipped with the automatic climate control.
  23. Probably time to start looking up the Lemon Law process in your state
  24. For a Suburban? Mine is really quick and frigid (one of the best things about it), but then again the system in my Subaru is basically a hamster eating a mint and coughing on you. Last summer in NJ we had a 115F heatwave, and that's when I knew I bought the right vehicle with the Suburban.
