New Gmt900 For 2012?

According to the latest Truck Trend Magazine, GM may have restarted work on a GMT900 rework which means it would be on sale for the 2012 model year.

Great news in my mind. Be interesting to see how they improve on what I consider near perfection... :)

Well it seems that most people who prefer the GMC is because of the frontend. I personally like the GMC frontend way better than the Silverado, but I like the fenders of the Silverado better, mix the two together and it’s perfect.

I prefer the grill and the fenders of the GMC. I guess it's just personal taste.

While I realize GM needs to keep up the truck lines to stay competitive, I'd be really surprised if they throw much R&D funding at a truck project right now. I doubt they'll do anything major to update these.... look for a change similar to the one that happened in '03 with the GMT800s I'd bet.

and put in the 4.5L!! I would gladly get a second job to pay for it!! :)

I'd guess that if this engine ever shows up, it would likely carry an option price similar to the 6.6L Duramax (if not more). I'd probably need a third job.........

Which was one of the ugliest refreshes of a Chevy truck that I have ever seen (and hopefully never repeated). :D

Easy, put the GMC grille on the Silverado :)

If you are referring to the 4.5 Diesel (which is on hiatus at the moment) --- I agree.

I think that would be an awesome addition that I would seriously consider. Never owned a Diesel, but drove a lot of 'em over the years. My guess would be that they could probably be in the 18-20mpg range around town, easy.

THE List (Not comprehensive since I dont own a GMT900):

Find a better OEM supplier for the door lock actuators.

Redesign the headlight assembly for easier access to the bulb

Make the bed wall 5-10 mils thicker

Make the 6L80E/6L90E standard across the board

Drop AFM (Shields UP Number One)

Badge only the true 4x4s as a Z71

Introduce a 6.5 bed on the crew cabs

and as noted above:

PUT THE 4.5L in the front ALREADY.

Unless it is a 6spd supply issue, I don't see why the 4.8L is still mated to the 4L60E for 2010 when every other V8 gets the upgraded transmission and cooling components.

Any takers for the 4.3L/4L60E combo still being around in 2012? I would not have a problem with it personally, but the 2wd units need an option of 3.73 gears (at least). This old V6 is being choked out by emissions, electronic nannies and miserable axle ratios (3.23)........

Couldn't agree more on the headlight assembly....have to hire a "little person" to get to it...

Ref AFM...it is only there to boost the numbers on the EPA fuel economy cycle... doubt it's going anywhere. How about a user deactivation feature that can be accomplished without a custom tune? Kinda like some vehicles let you disable the seat belt chime...

while we're on the topic of seat belt chimes....I generally wear mine, but LET ME TURN IT OFF (dammmmit)...

CHECK on the Diesel.....
