Can A Subwoofer Surround Be Reglued?

Just curious if the rubber surround of a subwoofer can be re-glued or do i need to replace it altogether?

the surround is separating from the woofer.

its behind the backseat of an '05 crewcab; tight fit, and i'm not looking forward to another search for a speaker that will fit my box.

thanks.

i've seen it tried, but never with success

i was afraid of that.

well i guess i'll have to call the stereo shop and see what they can find w/ the same depth of a JL w0.

its a very tight fit.

i had to chisel out the back of my box to make that w0 fit.

Might want to call JL. When I punched my RF Punch sub and cracked the cone I called RF for a repair. They said $85 total for any repair including parts. Maybe JL has a similar thing.

you had a JL W0. great sub, just get a new JL W0V2, they have more power handling and much better sound. I have 2 and they are amazing and very cheap. only $100, it might be cheaper then having them fix it

that may be the ticket.

the mounting depth is even less than my w0, but it looks like the woofer protrudes further.

i built my box specifically for that speaker, so it looks like whatever i get, i'm going to have to build another box for it.

Don't build another box. Just look into a sub(s) that falls in the airspace range as your enclosure. Look into Memphis, Resonant Engineering, Elemental Designs for small airspace/shallow mounting depth subs.

I ordered new surroounds off of ebay and re-surrounded my JL 12w3's myself and they worked and sounded great. You just gotta take your time and make sure the voice coil stays centered under the dust cap. There's instructions online about it. It's not bad at all. Saves a lot of money too

I have a crew cab as well. I had a 10" alpine type r in my old truck that i was hoping to make fit somewhere. Not a change, its a very deep sub. I went with a kicker and its a tight fit but it fits.I had to router out the inside of the box I made so that it would sit deeper. It sounds really good to.

Alpine Type-E is what you need i think....

IIRC they are the tight fit stuff from Alpine... work well in very little enclosures and take up little space since they're not that deep...
