2009 Gmc Sierra Weak Horns

Just bought my truck last month brand new. I love the truck but the horn leaves a lot to be desired. My Pontiac Grand AM's horn was twice as loud as this one. I know there are supposed to be dual horns on this thing, but I believe there is only one working. The one that is working sounds like its coming from the drivers side front corner of the truck. Is the other horn located in the same area, or somewhere else entirely?

You should just get a set of train horns and hook them up. Then NOBODY could claim they didn't hear you coming

FWIW, I just read our city ordinances and noted that train horns were specifically named as illegal. I heard my brother (deputy) mention the city he works in also has a similar law.

 

One horn on my 99 quit working within months of buying it new. The remaining horn is useless.

I have the exact same problem....my S10 has twice the horn level the GMC does.

Both my Chevrolet horns work fine, and have for a long time.

I can't remember even trying the horn to see if it works or not. I never use it anyway.

It's funny you posted this, as I was just searching for this exact topic. I bought my 2009 Sierra in February and my horns are quite weak. My brother has a 2007 Silverado and his horns are much louder. Did GM change the design this year? I'm thinking one of my horns has gone out.

 

Let us know if you take it the dealer and what they say. I haven't been back to see if a brand new one sounds the same. I don't use my horn much, but it is sad when my wife's minivan has louder horns.

Couldn't agree more.

My buick's horn is loader and more 'fierce' sounding than my '07 Silverado 3500.

Perhaps I should just swap them. ;)

Less horney....yeah unfortunately it is. I guess I'll have to make a trip to the stealer to see what they say. I still think either only one horn was installed or else one was never plugged in. Who knows....but when i hit the remote to lock the doors and it "honks" i think it sounds horrible.

Won't help the horns, but it will stiffen your suspension.....

My '09 Sierra's horn won't scare a Prius high-miling in the left lane. Time for a swap!
