Yeah, the horn (s?) in my '06 sucks too. Never really gotten around to checking it out, but now I kinda want to get it fixed. My wife says I have horn envy of her 2002 Accord. :lol:

You guys should youtube HornBlasters....That is some funny stuff!!! They go around town scareing people with train horns that are on their cars. LMAO!!!! :lol::freak::cheers::uhoh:

Yeah I'd love to go the Train Horn route as well but, I do believe they are illegal. Nope, what'cha want to do is find a big old 70's Buick or Cadillac and rip out the horns and put them in your truck. My Dad had an old 78 Buick Park Avenue that he used for parts so I took the horns out if. The Trumpets themselves are twice the size of the stock setup...

 

Someday I'll have to record it...

Yep, exactly what I was thinkin about. I've had a ton of GM cars and trucks over the years and post 68 til about 86 had the loudest horns...especially the dual horns.

I have a 2010 Silverado W/T and noticed my horn sounded terribly weak. Took it to the dealer yesterday and I was told the W/T only comes with one horn and that the sound was normal and expected. Made no sense to me that GM would do this intentionally. Is the dealer being honest or do I have another horn out? I expected a high/low combination.

Just bought my truck last month brand new. I love the truck but the horn leaves a lot to be desired. My Pontiac Grand AM's horn was twice as loud as this one. I know there are supposed to be dual horns on this thing, but I believe there is only one working. The one that is working sounds like its coming from the drivers side front corner of the truck. Is the other horn located in the same area, or somewhere else entirely?

 

It's funny you posted this, as I was just searching for this exact topic. I bought my 2009 Sierra in February and my horns are quite weak. My brother has a 2007 Silverado and his horns are much louder. Did GM change the design this year? I'm thinking one of my horns has gone out.

 

Let us know if you take it the dealer and what they say. I haven't been back to see if a brand new one sounds the same. I don't use my horn much, but it is sad when my wife's minivan has louder horns. :loser:

 

Noticed your truck is a Work Truck model. I have a 2010 Silverado W/T and the dealer told me it only comes with one horn (not 2 like the other model trucks). That would definitely account for the weak sound.

Vehicles with dual horns generally have a low and high note horn. If the low stops working, it gets very quiet. Running two horns with the same tone will not be as good as running two horns, one low note and one high note.

 

I have found that the horn either startles the other driver, or, it somehow manages to get into their ear, travel down the neck, across the shoulder, down the arm (while causing the arm raise up, and out), past the elbow, causing it to bend 90 degrees, then hitting the hand, causing all fingers to retract, except the middle finger, it just shoots straight out.

 

I would like the horn button to send a radio signal to the offenders car, that turns the wipers on full, all the lights to flash, radio to go full volume, and a flag to unfurl on the antenna that says "I am an idiot".

I have drivers that stare directly at my oncoming truck at an intersection while I'm driving 45mph and still pull directly out in front of me and then get PO'd at me apparently because my high beams and blaring horn (not to mention seeing my GMC grill in their rear view mirror) annoy's THEM.

      Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.

      I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.

      4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.

      2020 Sierra 2500 windows rolling down

      2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
