Window Squeals When Going Down

Recommended Posts

So, my driver's side window makes that awful squeal/squeak/whatever you want to call it when you roll it down. It only does it when it's about halfway down and for maybe an inch, then the rest of the way down it doesn't do it. It does not do it when you roll it up though. I know it's not the tracks and I'm pretty sure it's the weatherstripping stuff that contacts the window. I've tried cleaning it with a rag or towel to clean it but that doesn't help. Any suggestions on how to keep it from doing that awful noise?

Also, when it's really hot outside and the suns been on it all day and the window is hot, it won't do it either.

Yea sorry, forgot to put what truck it is. It's a 2008 Silverado CC. None of the other windows do this? Is that felt easy to replace?

head to the dealer...there is a TSB out on this if I remember right...mine had the same problem and I tried a bunch of different things on it and it didn't do any good...however GM had some sort of special grease and that fixed the problem.

I have some special grease for this too. I lubed the tracks (on the passenger side) that the glass rides up and down on with wheel bearing grease several months ago, haven't had a noise since.
