I got an 08 Silverado CC with shortbox over the summer and looking at getting a cover before winter. Just wanted to get some feedback on what kinds/brands some of you have. One of my buddies has a fiberglass cover painted to match his truck and thats about all I've seen.

Truck is white with sprayed on bedliner, and any pictures would be great also.

How often do you get into the back of your truck and what you put in the back could dictate what kind of cover you get. A fiberglass cover is the best looking, but a major pain if you need to take it off, a soft cover is less cool, but if you want to throw a couple bikes in the back it sure does make it easy.

I'm lookin at the Lund Genesis Roll Up cover for my truck. Not sure if anyone has one and how good it is but it looks good to me for the price.

That is one of my main concerns. I dont use the bed of my truck daily, but anytime I do its usually for large items.

I have a lund tri fold, and so far its been great!!!! I live where it gets cold but I am able to take it on and off easy. It folds out smoth like a roll up but comes off in no time.

Does anyone have a retractable hardcover tonneau? If so what brand, and the pros and cons of it? I would like something that I can lock, and noticed this type of cover may give me the best of both worlds.

Undercover hard cover

 

Pros;

- Lighter than fiberglass

- Cheaper than most other caps

- No painting means no scratching (and you can stand on it, or secure stuff on top of it)

- Quick release front hinges and rear shocks (and hooks to hang it on your garage wall)

- Doesn't decrease rear visibility

- Can have it shipped right to your door & put it right on the truck with no prep work

- Covers tailgate (must open cover to open tailgate)

 

Cons;

- Not as easy to work out of (as an open bed, or a full cap would be)

- Takes two people to get it on and off (and you need to be careful not to scratch your paint with the front hinges)

- Not a lot of room to access front of bed from side of truck (I have 8' bed, it might be a little better with a 6'6" or 5'8" bed as the rear shocks should lift it higher)

- If you have the spoiler type tailgate protector you need to swap it out for a regular one

I need to adjust the front corners a little. I have been rolling and unrolling it hauling stuff lately.

I have an AGRI ACCESS LORADO Cover my 4th on and my past 4 trucks!! Rolls up EASY and locks.

I don't want to hijack your post, but I was kinda looking at getting one before winter as well, and I was looking into one particular model.

It has great reviews, and I think it has the pros of the soft and hard ones (you can roll it up, leaving the frame on, or you can take the whole thing off at once). Most of the bad reviews (the first ones I read!) seem to indicate wrong or missing parts rather than dislike for the product... all of them seem to like it once they have the correct parts.

 

Anybody have experience with that model?

I have a Fold-A-Cover, and I love it. I have had it since my truck was new. Really Great sealing on the front and back. Also comes with a tailgate lock. I just like being able to have almost all of my bed when I need it. If I need my whole bed, only 4 small bolts and the whole cover comes right off ...

 

It holds up to the snow and ice really well. The only problems I've had were the locks and slides freezing the first year. A quick spray with a teflon lube has done the trick. Never a problem again ...

      Which one, the AT or AS?   Starfire is made by Cooper/Goodyear but at $85/tire I'd think I'd need to level-set my expectations that they may not even be round 😉 But you're saying they're decent?   I'm already into this thing $1506 in parts, fluids, etc. Totaled all my receipts today. $250 of that was replacing an EGR and MAP sensor that were probably fine, but I'm not going to return the parts since they've been installed. I'm cheap, but not that cheap. I use it, I keep it!   I may or may not make money if I sell the truck at this point, but, that wasn't really the point. And if I billed my time, I'd be hosed for real. My thought on the tires is I "might" put 1,000 miles on before selling it. I just don't want to put absolute junk on it, that doesn't do anyone any good. If the Solus solidly isn't junk, I'll definitely consider them.

      I leave mine as is. I'm always a trip away from riding on unpaved roads. Dealer can clean it when they prep it after I trade it in for another new truck.

      4WD. Far as I know it came stock with P's and not LT's. Definitely planning to put P's on it, but stock is a 109 XL load rating so I should probably stick within that guideline.   No rebates on anything I can see at the moment. Discount Tire is offering $50 off, but Pep Boys is very competitive on price, and also carries all the off-brand stuff. Les Schwab always wants an arm/leg, but they do good work.   It still has the original spare. Goodyear Wrangler RT/S, thing looks like a tractor tire LOL!! How times have changed.

      2020 Sierra 2500 HD (base model) gas engine 4wd.    All 4 windows roll down on their own. Happens somewhat randomly after stop and engine off - when engine turned off, when walking away from vehicle before or after locks activated. Pulled the window fuse F14 Instrument Panel Fuse Block Right; the driver's side still activates from driver's side door panel; passenger and back seat windows activate from local switches on their doors but not from driver's side group of switches. Power mirrors don't activate with fuse removed either (same fuse for both circuits). Problem not solved.    How can they even activate with fuse removed but they are all still opening and can control from each door?  When they open on their own, I can shut them from the switch in each door, but they don't stay closed.    Seems to be activated somehow with key fob; something bumping the key fob in my pocket or just handling - removed key fob and took it far enough away and now the windows stay closed. Replaced key fob batty just in case, no change.    Sounds like some kind of wiring short or maybe electronics. Dealer will first replace electronic control module without checking anything else and I anticipate problem will still exist since their troubleshooting skills are limited to "do whatever the computer says".  In any case, keyfob seems to be activating the circuitry.    Surely I'm not the only one with this issue, but I can't find anything related on the site. What do yall think?   JohnRoy
