Tried To Buy 2009 Sierra Today...

:D

This is pretty sad. True story.

Called my work this am (GM Dealer), and put in a completely legitimate offer on a 09 Sierra that we have in inventory. Truck has been parked in the same spot, no test drives on it at all.

I have enough money saved up, where I would still be comfortable after the tranaction was made, which is the most important thing of all.

So, I talked to my salesman (which I'm truthfully about to replace)and our conversation involved an exact dollar figure. I dotted all the i's and crossed all the t's, and the salesman sounded hopeful that the deal may occur. He had the vin, complete transaction from a to z in his hands, and headed off to the General Manager's office.

35 minutes goes by. I then get a call, from my salesman, that a "lady is supposed to come in and look at it at 11am today..."

Yeah right. All of a sudden. I'm getting pissed off now.

My salesman says "I'll call you if she does or does not buy it...."

That was at 10:35 this morning. Phone never rang. Nothing.

It's going on 5pm now. Talk about some real nasty BS.

There was nothing wrong with my offer. Management makes some money, and delivers a new Sierra to ONE OF THEIR OWN EMPLOYEES.

OH...wait...I guess I'm only allowed to buy JUNKERS out of the back lot now. Sheesh. I must be a real piece of scum; my own fellow co-workers won't even give me a simple 20 second phone call.

So carbon black metallic is now $ 195? And if they charge $ 250 for the sliding window, which deletes the defroster, for which they charged extra SS (part of convenience package), where is the credit for the defroster?

As far as buying a new truck right now, the time is better than last month. The rebates have been substantially increased.

That's a nicer truck than the one I just picked up. Go to another dealer and see how they like that. Someone out there has to be hungry so start the search. How is it going to look for them when one of their employees pulls in with another dealers sticker on his ride. Don't get mad, get even.

I'm a Tech at the Dealership

The sad thing is I've worked with the General Manager for over 19 years

And my salesman? I've known him since he was 7 years old...

What a place, right?

Hate to hear it. That's why I usually buy 1-3 year old vehicles from individuals and stay out of dealerships as much as possible. Bought my '08 Sierra SLE extra cab 4x4 with 9800 miles a little over a month ago for $20k even. Original window sticker was $35k and change but I have no idea what the original buyer actually paid. He got it in Sep '08 so there's still almost two years left on the warranty.

I agree. If you want to rub salt in their eyes, when you leave work, tell them you are going truck shopping!! :D

Not sure what's going on with that scenerio? I guess they figure they can make more money off a regular customer than a GM employee?

The truck is very similar to the one I purchased back in May, mine has 20's and is an SLT but other than that very close.

This whole "GM is/was hurting" thing I think is a lot of smoke and mirrors for the most part?

The salesman I purchased my truck off of said he had people in his showroom everyday looking for trucks but he had no units to sell them, as he could not get them from GM!

He said he had placed orders twice over the past year for 150+ trucks and the most that ever showed up were 5-7?

Oshawa truck plant was still up and running but everyone there knew their fate so why wouldn't GM build the trucks?

Personally I believe GM hosed our Gov't into giving them more money, certainly the demand was there but not the product, but our Gov't wouldn't know that, all they kept hearing is their sales are way down!!!

The day my dad went into the dealer (long before I got my truck) my salesman had sold 11, yes 11 cars that day,,,,, but read in the papers and watch it on the news, GM sales are way down :D

When I worked for a GM dealership in 2004 and 2005 I got the GM employees discount the same as the factory employees. I bought my truck and my wifes Buick while I was there. And yes I had access to the records and the invoice so I know what GMS price and all the rebates were.

If you work for GM, don't you get employeed pricing...similar to Ford's A plan? If so, what's to negotiate?

MSRP is 38025

GMS (employee) is 34093

National Rebate is 4000, bringing it to 30093

Invoice Rebate us 2000, bringing it to 28893

60-day sale rebate is 500, which brings it to 28393

Trade in..01 Impala , minus 3000

$25393

What's so wrong with this deal?? I'm doing nothing wrong here!!

As far as the 60 day return sale (read up on it guys, severely complicated if you want to return a vehicle...) Gm Dealer Employess CANNOT RETURN a vehicle, whatsoever. So, GM spiffs us a $500 rebate for keeping the vehicle..............

It sounds like they either don't want the trade in car for $3000 or they want to hold off to sell it to a regular customer for more profit. That $4000 employee discount is probably a huge factor. If they are hurting and sell it to a regular customer that $4000 is just more profit.

did you ever try and call them and see what is up? I would have done this instead of waiting on them.
