Been searching for months for a 1/2 ton and a 5spd manual. Found a couple up here but they are both junk described as excellent condition...... some people's kids. Also started hearing they aren't that great a tranny too. Ah crap.

Anyway, we came across this one and it just seemed perfect for a little brother to our 2500HD crew. Will be the DD and also for hunting season. Never had a topper before and am excited to use one. In hunting season your gear is safe locked in the back and the trip home your meat is not exposed so much.

Need some help for the grille insert, it is alright but anyone have a suggestion for a different one? Was thinking either the billet "pipe" style w/o the GM emblem or maybe one of the round hole style the denalis wear. Really like the stainless wire mesh ones (coarse larer hole) but that is a little rich for my blood and might look like too much of a good thing. Doesn't seem to be a whole lot available for an 01 body style after hours of searching. Any ideas?

Goal is to have a clean sharp looking truck. The mud flaps have to go too, they will have the flare paint peeling off in no time. I might get the torsion bars cranked up a bit, sure seems low inthe front right now.

As far as maximizing fuel economy I was reading in the other forum last night. Looks like I need to put a tornado in it and a dozen magnets so I can muster 30MPGs........ If the exhaust is rotten I might look into an aftermarket muffler that is quiet. Love to put on another magnaflow but the big grey truck is too loud to talk to the passengers in the back seat. When I win the lottery I will put a ZF6 in, just because.

Hope you like the new wagon!

Thanks Steven.

I was actually checking out your gallery last night when I saw your grill. That is a very nice truck you have there. Wish I could find a grill like that!

Thanks. It's a regular denali grill. I didn't have the truck home and I had it ordered off ebay.

Keep your eyes open on ebay and you can find them cheap. :thumb:

If you want ideas,... if it were my truck, Wheels/tires would be my first purchase. Next would be a billet style or denali style grill and maybe loose the bug shield. New wheels will give it a completely different look

Will do. I think this truck is getting old enough they don't want to make a whole bunch of new grilles for it anymore seeing as it is already two body styles old.

Cheers.

This truck has a GFX sticker on the back. Haven't really found much for what the ground effects package includes. Perhaps just the sticker......

Nice find Noel.

I think the "GFX" edition got you the mudflaps and HD style flares.

Thanks guys.

At first I was going to get a short box standard cab, something that would get the best mpg possible and yet still do a little work.

When my wife caught wind of it she put the kiabosh on that. We usually take her Subaru out to the mountains but she doesn't like the gravel roads. This will be a compromise truck and that doesn't hurt my feelings too much.

The flares make good sense, but those wrap around flaps take away from the look of the truck IMO. I sure hope they haven't wore the paint off the flares so I can get rid of them and not leave an eye sore behind.

Bottom side fo the truck has been coated (rockers) with what appears to be rubberized black paint for protection. Nice to find a vehicle that someone has taken care of the way I do.
