Thinking Of A Body Lift

Whats Up Guys? After seeing LSU Dark Knights truck It made me want to get a Body Lift. I really like the look of his truck, but if I go that route I only want to get a 1.5". The company he bought his off of makes a 1.5" kit, and I like the idea of that kit because its just high enough for my truck to be taller than a stock one, and Id hope that the gaps between the frame and hitch wouldn't be huge either because its not real high. If anyone has some pictures and input about this Id be happy to hear it. Im still on the fence about it and would like to here the good and the bad. Heres the link to the one I would get. http://zoneoffroad.com/product?ki=147&gr=-1

That is the same kit I am gonna get hopefully in the spring for my truck. 07blackz71 has the same kit on his truck and it looks great IMO. Gaps aren't to big from what I have seen pics of and the hitch isn't that bad either. I would go for it.

I was looking at the kit and you have to buy the rear bumper relocation mounts seperatly, and you have to cut on the frame to put them on. I don't really care for that so I might look around for another kit.

just get the 3" kit, you'll be glad you did.

I probably wouldn't mind it but Ive heard that some people have a problem with the bed swaying alot when they go around a corner? I probably wont do anything if I can't find one that doesn't involve cutting anything on my truck. Knowing my luck they probably all do.

Yes you will be glad you went with the 3" and unless you want to leave the bumpers in their stock locations, you are gonna have to cut.

Does anyone with a trailer hitch and a body lift have a picture of the rear with the bumper relocated? I would like to see what the gap looks like between the hitch and the bumper.

thanx

from another thread VVVV

Does anyone have pics of the rear of their truck with a 3" body lift and factory hitch? I am worried with a 3" lift the stock hitch is going to look odd. Thats why I am leaning more towards the 1.5"

IMO, looks like most truck hitches do. The hitches are so hidden from the factory that with a 3" body lift, the hitch looks almost "normal". It's not like the older trucks where the hitches already hung down 4-5" from the bumper, so adding 3 more inches was a big deal.

Who ever told you the bed sways with a body lift is BSing you, beds dont sway with a BL. As Matt said get the 3".

No one told me I saw it in another thread on here I was reading about Body Lifts. As far as the cutting goes I guess I wont be doing one then because I refuse to cut the frame on a brand new truck. Probably will just wait until I can afford a mild suspension lift I guess.

there's no frame to cut with the 3" body lift.... you trim two small tabs off the front bumper which is no big deal. and the rear bumper brackets get cut in half. So if you wanted to take the BL off you'd need new rear bumper brackets from GM or get them from whoever you sell the BL to.

Oh didn't know that. So then why does the 1.5" kit need to be cut then?
