Dash Board Plexiglass

I have a 2003 Suburban. Can someone please tell me what they call that clear Plexiglass piece that protects the gauges on the dashboard? Mine is cracked and does anyone know where I can buy a replacement? Thanks, DT...

i believe that is just clear plastic on those models..

 

you can probably order a replacement cluster cover somewhere.. gm parts guys will prob chime in, but i would check at the dealership.

 

not sure if you can replace just the clear plastic.. they may try to get you to purchase the entire assembly.

most likely.. it will have a plastic code on the side.. i'm sure there is a replacement piece for this out there somewhere.

If all else fails, you might try a junkyard and see if you can pull just the lens off the gauge cluster....

They just call it an instrument cluster lens,Its GM part#12205422

Yep, they aren't cheap though, I checked one for my truck, and it was about $50 IIRC

I cracked one on my 01 Tahoe. I bought the thinest I could fine at a hardware store. I used silicone around the edge and I used a heat gun to soften the plastic so it would curve. I made a piece if cardboard into a tube that the outside radius matched the bend in the cluster. Heated it up and pushed down and wait a few minutes and you are done. Trim the edges and install.

 

The hardest part was getting the old plastic out. It appeared to be glues or epoxied in.

 

Almost forgot, I had to drill a hole for the odo reset. Newer models should be easier.
