2 Wheel Drive "z71" ?

My dealer just located a leftover 2009 Sierra 2500 CC with 2 wheel drive like I wanted. When he read me the list of options, the "Z71" offroad package was there. I thought the Z71 package was available on 4WD models only.

Can a 2 wheel drive truck come with the "Z71" option? Better yet, why would an "offroad" package be offered on a 2 wheel drive truck in the first place?

Maybe I'm nuts! :chevy:

Yep,You can get a 2wd Z71.

We've discussed,and argued,this many times on here!

Lots of customers go off road in the flat lands and farm fields and do not need a four wheel drive but the skid plates are needed along with the slightly heavier suspension.

Does the 2wd Z71 have the 2" suspension lift like the 4x4 Z71? :chevy:

:P

have yet to see a full size z71 but the colorado z71 2wd are just as low as the 85s, only real difference is flares, slightly bigger tires and the sticker

:chevy: it was supposed to be a joke. The Z71 doesn't come with bigger tires either. Its a sticker, shocks, thicker sway bar and some skid plates.

the colorado ones are thicker then the z85 ones...know that for a fact i see one everyday

Well, that Z71 sticker will add magic all terrain capability to that 2WD truck all by itself. :chevy:

Oh, I forgot, to distinguish a 2WD Z71 from a 4WD Z71, the sticker on a 4WD version will have 4X4 letters as a part of the Z71 sticker. That's how you can tell whether it is a 2WD or 4WD at first glance.

I have an '07 GMC NBS CC 5.3 with "Denali Interior Package" (sound, HVAC, steering wheel controls), 2-WD and Z71 suspension. When I test drove mine there was a somewhat identically packaged unit on the lot, less the Z71 package, which I also test drove. I'm stating the ride was much better with the Z71 package. Many people ride in my truck and comment on how nice, but smooth and firm, it rides. David

The main advantage of Z71 is the skid plates anyway (you still need to upgrade the shocks, which are better than non-Z71, but still not Bilstein 5100), and for my body style Tahoe, the applique looks much better than the plain Tahoes. My Tahoe is a 2WD Z71 and looks identical size-wise/style-wise to a 4WD Z71 except for the Z71 badge being slightly different. I've had 4WD before, but just don't need all the headaches anymore as I never wind up using it here in TX.

Hmmm...

How does the WEA "Z71 Appearance Package" fit into this picture? Could it be ordered ON TOP of a 2-wheel drive Z71 as well?

That would make for a very interesting & rare truck !!
