2 Wheel Drive "z71" ?

Hmmm...

How does the WEA "Z71 Appearance Package" fit into this picture? Could it be ordered ON TOP of a 2-wheel drive Z71 as well?

That would make for a very interesting & rare truck !!

One of the features of this is the different Z71 sticker (larger). I have yet to see one in 2wd, I think this may only be a 4wd option (at least for 09-10)?

Guess that means you could get some of the nicer items like the Z71 gauge fascias and the REALLY nice embossed aluminum sill plates on a NON-4x4 Crew Cab - assuming you knew exactly what combination of packages to order ... That's kinda cool, actually!

... I really want a set of those sill plates ...

you mean these

Yep, that's them!!

Speaking of which, Ryan - I've tried to look those up using the part numbers that were in an earlier post with your pics of the sill plates, but neither GMPartsDirect or GMPartsHouse show those pn's in their online systems. Guess I gotta call my local stealership...

I have a set of aftermarket sill plates on mine - look good except they do not have the Chevrolet logo. But they only cost me about $ 40 for a set of four.

Does anyone if the suspension is the same on a 2013 GMC Sierra 2500 HD Denali Duramax and a 4 wheel drive version. Is there a big difference other 2wd verses 4wd?

Thanks

Well, that Z71 sticker will add magic all terrain capability to that 2WD truck all by itself. :P

Oh, I forgot, to distinguish a 2WD Z71 from a 4WD Z71, the sticker on a 4WD version will have 4X4 letters as a part of the Z71 sticker. That's how you can tell whether it is a 2WD or 4WD at first glance.

That's the way you could tell on my old '13 Avalanche also. Seems they changed it for at least for my'16 Z71 LT 4WD with 2 sp transfer case & trailering pack.... reads "Z71 Off Road" not "Z71 4x4" on the bed decals.

2WD '16s still have a bed decal likely the one that just says "Z71". Appears that only the '16s 4WD without the Z71 package are labeled with "4x4" bed decals.

:sigh: it was supposed to be a joke. The Z71 doesn't come with bigger tires either. Its a sticker, shocks, thicker sway bar and some skid plates.

Not bigger tires, but it used to come with stock-sized "on/off road all terrain tires" and a higher-capacity engine air filter. Now they come with Goodyear highway-tread tires.

Lots of customers go off road in the flat lands and farm fields and do not need a four wheel drive but the skid plates are needed along with the slightly heavier suspension.

And that is all that the Z71 package is. Stickers, skid plates and stiffer shocks.

Does the 2wd Z71 have the 2" suspension lift like the 4x4 Z71? :uhoh:

:D

LOL.......The Z71 package does not include a 2" lift, it never did. Z71 is a simple suspension package, a cute name for a shock option and some cheap skid plates. Not sure where you get the 2" lift idea but that's not the case.

GM only offered lifted vehicles with the S10 ZR2 package, GMC called it the High Rider Package. Other than ZR2 equipped S10's, nothing else was lifted. A Z71 has the same stance as a 4x4, or 2wd truck. Only difference is decals and shocks.

They do it on the Toyota too, I think it called off road package. My brother in law got nail on one a few years ago. Bad part was he really needs a fwd for work . He bought two at the same time a Texas package 2wd for his wife and a platinum off road for himself. He went in looking for a 4wd they said it was one that was far as he checked. He came by my house two wks later ask me how to turn on the 4wd, I look under the front and said at the dealer. He took it back and they said you should have checked it out. Next time I saw him he had the same looking truck except a dail on the dash. And an extra 7k in payments, good thing he gets paid milage.
