Chev Cheyenne?

Traveling in California yesterday, I saw a truck badged as a Chev Cheyenne. Looked exactly like my Silverado, LTZ trim level, but badged with "CHEYENNE" in place of "SILVERADO" badges. Usual bow-tie badges, etc.

Isn't that what they're called in Mexico ?? (don't recall where I've heard that)

There's a Cheyenne Edition" pkg in Canada right now. The Silverado badge is still there & a small Cheyenne Edition badge is added below.

Yes there was a Cheyenne back in the mid 90's and earlier. The truck trim levels were Cheyenne, Scottdale, and Silverado. I believe they changed it to the "Silverado" in the 99 body style change.

It's a special kit put out by MDG Global that has to be ordered through a dealer. There is an entire thread about it here:

Custom, Cheyenne and Silverado were all trim variations on the C10/20/30 from the late '60's '70's and early '80's.

Showin' my age here, but I had these back in the day.

Cheyenne Trim level first debuted in 1971 to take the RPO code YE9, replacing the previous years badging of CST ( Custom Sport Truck and yes I am a 67-72 enthusiast). Cheyenne Super was top of the line until 1975 when the Silverado trim came out. After that the Cheyenne badging hung around as a mid level trim package until the end of the GM T400 platform in the 2000 model year. After that everything is a 'Silverado" with varying levels of trim ( W/T, LS,LT, LTZ, and so on).

In Canada as mentioned we also have a "Cheyenne Edition" on the lots now. It's kind of like the old Cheyenne as it's middle of the line. Has power windows, locks and mirrors of course, but isn't anything really fancy.

This truck was absolutely identical to mine except for the "CHEYENNE" in place of "SILVERADO" badges. LTZ trim level. Louisiana license plates.
