New Tires

here's a pic of the new tires. i took this with my droid under my garage. sorry the pic is not the best quality and the post in the pic, also my truck needs a bath. it is dusty with pollen, i will get some better pics. the good thing is, is that they ride and handle really well, and dont feel like a 10 ply, except for the weight. they are noticeable on takeoff but thats about it.

if you take the price i paid at tirerack.com($195) each + $112 shipping + $30 mounting and balancing at local shop, then that brings the price per tire to about $230. so far the ride is good and handling is pretty nice. the pic isnt very good, i'll do better. the truck is filthy because i took it down a dirt road to see how the 10 plies handles bumps. did pretty well up to about 65 on the dirt road i was on, scared to go any faster....really dry here in south GA, and sandy= ditch+lots of damage!

I don't normally like white letters showing, kind of a black sidewall man. BUT, the KO's look really good with the white letters out.

These tires appear to have a diameter of 33.15" The Rough Country leveling kit (from OP's signature) claims it is OK to run 33" tires. Some folks here have said they get slight rubbing at full turn with 33"+ tires.

 

Luke...have you noticed any rubbing?

 

I really like the look! I am in the middle of an ongoing search for the "best" tire for my truck. I'll definately add these to the LOOONNNG list!!

Nice tires..... The white letters make tires pop a bit more.

 

BFG sold me on the last set. 70k on them when I pulled them off......... The tires had begun to dry rot in between the ribs. If they had not started rotting I probably would have got another 15k to 20k....... There was just that much rubber left above the wear bands....

 

The new set are smooth just like the last set too boot. Plus a higher wear # on the new ones!.....

they measure 32.5 inches tall installed, with 45 lbs. of air. i did have a little scrubbing on the drivers side, but the fender well was missing a connector, after replacing it last night with a bolt, it doesnt scrub anymore. the 275/65-18 cooper stt's i took off scrubbed on both sides full lock, but they were widest at the tread width, where as the bfg's are not so wide at the tread. i think there is about a 1/4 inch difference in width vs the two. i like the tires though, definitely heavier than stock, but really not a very noticalbe power loss as i though that there would be. stock car tires these trucks came with weighed about 45 lbs each, these weigh in at 56 lbs, so a little heavier, but they are E range(would rather had D).

get this, i just got a call from tire rack, they forgot to tell me that i was eligible for a rebate on these tires. it is a $60 rebate. factor that in at 195/tire+112 ship+30 install and balance-60= $215 per tire. not a bad deal.

i think that they would fit Ryan, without a leveling kit. not 100 % sure. but they look to have plenty of room in the fender wells. the thing is with these plastic fenders is that if they scrubbed any, instead of cutting you could drill a small hole in the fender well and pull them one way or the other with a black tie strap, if needed. i know that i have seen a set of the the bfg 285/65-18 on stock wheels on a truck just like mine, with no scrubbing according to my pal that owns it....and he doesnt have a leveling kit.

Looks good. Id like to go with those when I need new tires. I also like white letter tires, and I was dissapointed when mine didn't come with any.

White letters out looks good with the white truck. Those tires fill up the wheel wells real nice! Nice upgrade!
