Stumbled across this forum from a Google search for p0332 and found a great topic on replacing the knock sensors (http://www.gm-trucks.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=86039) I've ordered the new wire harness and will pick up the sensors and intake manifold gasket locally, when I'm ready for them.

Oh yeah - a little info:

2002 Suburban 1500 2WD

5.3L V8 (flex fuel)

Charcoal Gray :happysad:

Question - I'm sure the first of many - How in the world do you remove the fuel injector solenoid wire connection from the fuel injector??? I don't see any clips holding the connector to the injector. I tried pulling and wiggling gently (the connector that is) and it won't release. I'm scared to pull too hard and break something. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Emile

OK With a little perserverence, I answered my own question. My connectors have a gray "slide tab" on the side of the connector. You slide the "slide tab" up away from the connection and it reveals a small black tab that is holding the connector to the injector. Pull the small black tab out away from the injector and pull the connector up off of the injector. Maybe this will help someone else or maybe I was the last guy to figure this out. :happysad:

I was just about to ask the same question so you aren't the last one to figure it out. I am able to slide the grey tab with no problem but can't get the black tab to budge. I am assuming the black tab is the small retangular piece that the gray piece slides into. Any suggestions ?

Met,

Even after posting this I was still having trouble with the little black tab. I had only gotten one of the connectors off yesterday, so called it a night and got back to it this evening. After studying it a little more, I found the following to work well:

- slide the gray tab up (not all the way off)

- squeeze the connector (one finger on the opposite side of the gray slider tab and one finger on the gray slider tab near the top) and pull up on the connector (while squeezing). This has a tendency to push the little black tab outward. Once I figured this out, I got the remaining 7 connectors off in a few seconds each. Well, that's not exactly true :D , I accidentally pulled the number 7 cylinder gray slider tab completely off the connector while still connected to the injector. I was stll able to squeeze enough with out the gray slider tab to release the little black tab. The gray slider went right back on after it was disconnected from the injector.

Hope this helps.

Ecombe,

Thanks for the reply--I was gone for awhile but will give the "squeeze" method a try in the morning--will let you know--I need to replace the knock sensors and figured everything out except for these little connectors. It's so nice of the manufactures to design these delightful little devices.

No luck with the squeeze method.Took a picture but wasn't able to download to this site--wanted to be sure we are talking about the sane thing. Could you contact me by e-mail so I could send you the picture ? My e-mail is [email protected]

Got the connectors off using the squeeze method---put pressure on till I heard a faint "click"--then it lifted right off--many thanks!!
