Well i have finally decided that i want i new truck. i am not all about the GMT-900.. im a real fan of the 800's as i think they are better trucks. But, i really would like to get brand new 2500 RCLB 4x4 WT 6.0.. they do look better and the interiors are better. i want to customize it a lot because i dont want to really mod my current truck because i put 28,000 miles in 8 1/2 months of owning my truck, its only got about 67k now but i want a fresh start. problems... not a fan of GMT-900's.... should i stick it out untill the 2011's? idk if ill like the reg cab, i haul people A LOT, but i have a suburban at my disposal. i want a new truck and dont have enough money for any more of a truck then i said above. oh and i do need a 2500 as i already push the limits of towing with my 1500.

my top choices...

2010 or 2011 2500 RCLB WT

2003-2007 GMT800 ECLB low low miles

sorry if my post is unclear in someways im typing this from a blackberry and im really tired

Just curious, what specifically do you dislike about the GMT900s? There's really no cause to be afraid of them, they're perfectly good trucks and are just as capable as the GMT800s were, they just have a different set of quirks to them (and there's no denying, we all know the GMT800s had their quirks too).

Frankly at this point I would start looking at the 2010 models if I were you. Under the skin they're the same as the GMT800 HD trucks, and because the 2011s are now being delivered dealers are going to start wanting to move the old models off their lots. Now is probably the best time to buy an HD truck if you're in the market and don't care about getting the benefits of the 2011s (revised engine, stronger frame being the main ones).

I just got a flier in the mail today saying that they're offering 0% for 72 months on "most 2010 full size trucks," so that too is a big plus.

its actually more so the GMT900 1500's...thats why i want a 2500. i will never get a truck with AFM.. i have heard about about the thin paint, crappy brakes, and they STILL have weird creaks and noises as if the GMT800 has dosent have enough. they just seem to have way bigger problems the the 800's. i know the 800's have just as many problems, dont worry. i love the way the 900's look and i love some of the features.

no truck will ever have real bumpers like a gmt400 though

hmmm well is the 6.0 being revised a lot? if im getting new i want to get the newest so it will definatley be a 2011 then unless maybe i can find a good deal on a 2010 ECLB 2500 4x4.. i really have to start taking the time and go look around..

This forum has brainwashed you, evidently. You're letting a bunch of idiots on the internet who like to whine taint your objectivity and perspective on the real situation. Ask around to guys in the real world who have GMT900 half tons. I bet you'll find that far fewer of them actually experience problems than this forum would have you thinking.

AFM isn't the "devil's spawn" that you're being led to believe it is, the "thin paint" isn't thin; soft, yes, but not thin. Not sure what these crappy brakes are that you're describing, my half ton stops just fine. And the weird creaks and noises, again I'm not sure what you're talking about. I haven't noticed anything with my truck aside from a rattle in the headliner that was quick and easy to fix.

It may well seem like the 900s have "way bigger problems" than the 800s did, but I would contend the real problem is that GMT900 owners just whine louder than GMT800 owners.

From what I've read the biggest differences are a different cam profile and some tuning differences. You could probably get just as much power out of the "old" 6.0 in the 2010s by adding a tune to it.

ok well you got me about the everything except for the brakes. i do actually know of 2 people that needed new pads and rotors around 20,000 miles on an 07 and 08 900 but, i know of more people who havent had problems. it just seem like everyone on here complains about the noises and creaks in the 900's!! you might be right the forum is brainwashing me.

hmm.. that gives me a lot to think about. i really dont know and i need to make a decision in the next few weeks.

2007 CC GMT900 on original brakes/rotors at @25k miles now, with no noise issues at all.
