Differential Cover

Recommended Posts

I am getting new 4.56 yukon gears installed next week. should i get new diff cover for the rear? I have seen some i.e made by Moser and TA performance that have extra strengthening bolts or something like that. Don't really know what they can do extra above my OEM cover.

Looking for advice on whether to keep my OEM one or get a new one as i prefer to do it all at once while everything is apart.

Thanks all

Get the TA cover with added fluid capacity and carrier bearing load bolts.

Basically then put some extra pressure on the carrier bearing clamps inside the diff to help "firm" up the entire case.

So, in your opinion, should I put the cover on as the gears are installed, or can i wait until the 500 mile re-check/fluid change and then install it?

Either works... doesn't really make much of a difference since either case you're going to want to remove the cover. I wouldn't use the drain plug in the TA cover to drain the fluid after the break in period; you want to take the cover off to make sure there aren't any big particles on the bottom and give everything a good once over
